I thought I saw a consumer reports study from years back, but I'm also looking for more recent info.

I'm curious if theres an organization that has compared the gasoline quality from company to company, and/or from state to state.

I want to see if BP/Amoco gas is normally better than Exxon, for example. I also want to see if North Carolina has some of the highest quality gas as I have heard reported before.

I would think that gasoline quality varies by region depending on the source, but maybe companies have certain policies, additives etc that make gas from one company routinely better than the other.

I watched Modern Marvels on the history channel about gasoline ( ) and they said the only real difference is in the additives they put in at the distribution stations.

They run the pipelines kinda like a bank. If you put in 1 gallon of gas you can take 1 gallon out, but it won't be the exact same 1 you put in, so the only real time to make a difference is when they take the gas out and send it to the local stations

my understanding is that they all have the same additives and certain companies get to claim certain ones.

Ive always heard and seen that Exxon's gas is actually kinda shitty. Shell usually gets good marks though.

why do you even bother posting? what you said has nothing to do with this thread.

don't take yourself so seriously, no one else does.

btw, I obviously wasn't trying to bring anything substantial to the table here, as the rest of the sentence you ommitted clearly suggests. So in conclusion, you suck at life.

what matters more than the brand of gas is the condition of the storage tanks and the amount of water/trash that may be in them.

never buy gas when you see the tanker truck on the lot because it stirred up all the shit that sinks to the bottom.

well, we usually go to the same shell station because thats where our mechanic is. they reward our loyalty for paying a little extra by cutting us deals on car repairs and stuff. Premium is $3.21 there right now...I think regular might be $2.80something....
It was like $75 to fill up my dad's new X5 yesterday
Looks like that bitch is only getting refueled at sam's or costco

eta: the one we go to is cheaper than ones down the street...because their gas/oil distributor thinks since it's right near duke, people will pay more

^If you drive a new X5, you shouldn't complain about gas prices.

uh yeah i defintely said it was my dad's car

anyways, i think it was maybe $2.89 for regular...I don't know why premium would be so much more, but i don't really care, i don't pay for it.

higher octane rating = more time spent refining = more cost goes into a gallon.... i dont think it's $0.20 - $0.40 more worth more though

I try not to buy BP, Exxon, Mobil, or Shell because of their evironmental records, especially in Africa as as of recent years. Look up the oil industry in Nigeria.

Typically, I get Hess b/c its moderately cheap, mostly drilled and refined in NA where we have stricter safety standards, and is high quality.
