i'm thinking of getting oneanybody have helpful opinions or experience with them?

uses a camry engine and drivetrain, so those will be reliable.
8/21/2006 12:56:17 AM
i hear it's junky compared to civic
8/21/2006 4:43:28 PM
i hear its highly customizable!
8/21/2006 4:53:05 PM
My sister drives one.
8/21/2006 6:37:10 PM
g/f has one. She seems to like it. Cruises down the highway at 75-80 better than most 4 cylinders I've driven.
8/21/2006 7:45:18 PM
my girlfriend recently got one. it's very similar to the civic but a little quicker, with not quite as good fuel economy, and cheaper.
they sure look better then the new civic. or the old civic for that matter
8/21/2006 7:47:11 PM
Yeah, more horespower than a new civic=quicker, the look a lot nicer/way more options, and despite ^^ I am pretty sure the gas mileage is better as well....I almost bought one last year- they drive very nice
8/21/2006 7:58:26 PM
gas mileage is definately not better than a new civic but i would rather have one any day... they are a heck of a lot quicker and handle better too... gas mileage isn't too far behind so its more then worth the difference. the 2 sunroofs are pretty sweet!
8/21/2006 8:04:36 PM
yah its just a camry 4cyl. Its the new VVTI motors though which make it a little quicker (variable valve timing) i work at a toyota dealership and tons of college kids are buying these things-for a car they are pretty nice. Not too many recalls on them either
8/21/2006 9:41:16 PM
i'm pretty sure i've narrowed it down to the scion or mazda 3
8/21/2006 10:26:11 PM
i'd go mazda 3 if those are the 2 options
8/21/2006 10:41:50 PM
Scion tC anyday over a Mazda 3. I test drove both. There's no comparison. Mazda 3 drives like you're on a platform. At least to me. The Scion tC has a lot more room, and dual sunroofs. It looks better (to me) drives better and you can do just about anything you want to it for the same price as the m3. Plus it's a toyota engine. reliable, good gas mileage and it's 185hp
8/22/2006 12:48:56 AM
im pretty sure tC's are 160hp
8/22/2006 6:27:08 AM
there are two versions. like the GT/ST celica. They just don't have different sub names.
8/22/2006 8:07:35 AM
clarify which civic... the SI will eat the TC alive
8/22/2006 8:25:55 AM
^ comparing the tC and Mazda 3. Not the civic.
8/22/2006 8:30:45 AM
yeah the SI will eat the Tc alive, but it also costs quite a bit more. If you were to buy an SI with all the same options as the basic Tc, you would be spending several thousand more. Another good thing about the Tc, even though it looks small, it has the largest back seat by far than any of the other small two door cars.
8/22/2006 8:43:51 AM
you will pay an insane premium to get a mazda 3s, which is the only mazda 3 worth getting
8/22/2006 9:20:29 AM
uh ok the scion tc, mazda 3, and civic SI are all different cars with different purposes.
8/22/2006 9:30:55 AM
8/22/2006 9:38:25 AM
The tC is very roomy. I love riding in the back on my sister's tC ... very comfy bucket seats. And the back seats can be tilted (60/40 split). Also has a sunroof for back passengers as well. It's an awesome road trip car. It has a LOT nifty little creature comforts. As far as reliability, it's ok to ask questions. But for your personal experience, just go test drive one.[Edited on August 22, 2006 at 9:42 AM. Reason : cool interior]
8/22/2006 9:40:10 AM
Tc by far is the most car for your money for 17K. period.
8/22/2006 1:31:10 PM
8/22/2006 6:13:07 PM
Drove my girl's TC to florida and back 28-29mpg. Nice cars overall though.
8/22/2006 7:36:23 PM
bought the tc a couple weeks ago. i love the sound system - especially the ipod hookup (no more CDs). and the double sunroof, and a relatively fast engine for a 4-cyl. and the overall styling. i don't know of another car for the price that gives you all that. i'm happy
9/26/2006 6:42:29 PM
Where did you get it, and how much did you end up paying?
9/26/2006 9:16:54 PM
big hunk of plastic shit. looks nice though, kind of like a very very very scaled down lex. i drove one though and thought the car was about to break off in my hands. buyer beware.
9/27/2006 12:02:36 AM
fred anderson, 18k[Edited on September 27, 2006 at 9:24 PM. Reason : i wanted to haggle, but it turns out scion doesn't do that - sticker price is what you pay]
9/27/2006 9:23:19 PM
yeah they mimic'd Saturn in that respect.
9/27/2006 10:32:02 PM
My girlfriend has one (seems like everyone's girlfriend has one). I don't like the styling of the dash that much, but like the rest of the interior and the sunroofs. Drives ok... its an automatic. Do they make a manual? I'm used to driving a manual so I don't know if it seems slow because its an automatic or because it actually is slower.
9/29/2006 3:12:20 PM
looks cool good milage, but not fast enough
9/29/2006 4:38:48 PM
my roommate has one and seems to like it
9/30/2006 8:00:26 AM
yeah they make it in manual, and it is actually pretty fast and handles well for a car in that class. yeah it's no speed demon, but it is a small 4-cylinder car meant to compete with the civic, mazda 3, corolla, focus etc. and of that group it outperforms them all for the same money. SI would probly beat it but it costs a lot more
