Can you talk to satan?
8/17/2006 11:29:59 PM
I don't have it, but a girl I went to high school with did. She could taste colors. I'm not sure if she had any of the other kinds or not. She was a pretty crazy person, but that's because she had like 23438 other psychological issues aside from that.It actually seems to me like it would be kind of a fun disease to have. Well, I suppose it seems like people who don't have it would think it sounds cool, but if you have it, you would hate those people.

Oh, it just means your internal batch files are messed up as you try to interpret the universe around you in markup langauge. Reconfigure your java settings, and you won't see source code anymore when you observe the universe. Did you right click the universe and view the source code? God left his rgb settings as 1=light blue....and so on.
8/17/2006 11:54:08 PM
she does, and has written about it a few times. it sounds really neat ]

Weird. I think I have ordinal linguistic personification synethesia (Personification).As for numbers,1 = introverted, quiet guy2 = introverted, quiet girl3 = extraverted, outgoing guy4 = pretty, introverted quiet girl5 = laid-back guy6 = mean, stuck-up girl7 = cool guy8 = mathmatical, technical9 = crazy, outgoing party girl10 = king-like, completed, success0 = very mean person, failureI've thought of numbers like this all the time, and in fact personification helps me remember numbers easier.[Edited on August 18, 2006 at 3:49 AM. 1 is the loneliest number huh^?

Wow that last one on your list sounds like an absolute zero, if you know what I mean!

Y'all just wanna have something.

se7entythree, why does your chart go up to 13? Shouldn't it just include 10 digits?
8/18/2006 9:45:52 AM
^^^I LOLedSynesthesia's an interesting aspect of psychology. I think lucid dreaming's more fun, though.
8/18/2006 11:55:35 AM
^^ Did you ever watch Brainman on the science channel? That guy has a distinct color/shape/feel for every digit from 1-10,000. He can also calculate Pi in his head to like 14,000 decimal places or crap like that. It was crazy.

They told me I had this back when I was young (middle school I think) because I related information to locations and numbers to colors, but I don't think I have it. Or if I do have it, I don't think its special and I think most people have it.Actually after reading about it I definitely don't have it like they talk about it. Either the doctor was wrong or I misunderstood them.[Edited on August 18, 2006 at 12:27 PM. Reason : .]

Nabakov (the guy who wrote Lolita) had it. Which is mentioned in a gazillion places. Which is what I get for spending 8 hours a day reading Wikipedia while listening to static.[Edited on August 18, 2006 at 1:21 PM. Reason : ugh]
8/18/2006 1:17:19 PM
omg i have Morgellons!!!
8/18/2006 1:22:00 PM
It isn't a disease--it's just where two (or more) of your senses are linked.
8/18/2006 4:35:09 PM
they say that very young babies have these connections normally, but in synesthetes the connections are not broken (theoretically).okay, the physical locations for months thing...when i think/read of a month, say january, i see it in 3d at about waist height to my right, block letters, and from behind (like the word is facing away from me). all of the months are like this and they string together from right to left with december ending up above my head. the tv channels are sort of like a little roller coaster with one loop. they start with the lowest channel furthest away and the loop is about 2/3rds of the way through as it comes towards me. entire albums/cds have the same spatial type associations along with colors. i'm not looking for attention. i seriously didn't think [many] other people had it besides my mom and me. i'm genuinely interested in learning more about it and hearing from others who have it.when i saw this special on Primetime, my jaw was on the floor. i could not believe what i was hearing. they were talking about me.[Edited on August 18, 2006 at 9:59 PM. 8/18/2006 9:58:10 PM
i think that everyone has it, its just a manner of finding a way to tap into it. not that special really.
8/18/2006 10:07:46 PM
^I'm not so sure about that. The bit they mentioned about the corresponding sensory areas lighting up in the brain (I'm assuming this was on fMRI) is pretty interesting.Sounds kind of like the way the brain adapts in a blind person, so that the visual cortex begins processing information from other sensory modalities.

ive only experienced it after taking LSD, but i do know that it is there.

remember when i used to tell you how much youd enjoy hallucinogens, trappy?
8/18/2006 10:12:52 PM
haha, yeah.and i still know i would enjoy them, but sadly, i will never get a chance to try them.when people describe their trips to me in detail, i start salivating. p.s. maybe i could do salvia divinorum next time i am in the us, as it is still legal.[Edited on August 18, 2006 at 10:15 PM. 8/18/2006 10:15:21 PM
why will you never get the chance to try them?
8/18/2006 10:16:19 PM
That's actually an interesting connection...unfortunately, I doubt we'll ever see a good MRI study on the effects of LSD on brain function.
8/18/2006 10:18:13 PM
yeah, sounds have colors, or colors have sounds... i dont know which comes first, i could never figure it out all i know is that its always the same colors. but i dont care to be a guinea pig for that study. the long term effects of using that stuff regularly are far worse than any cool stuff you 'see' while doing it
8/18/2006 10:20:59 PM

In my mind, every number starting from zero is arranged in a little map in my head. Whenever I think about numbers at all, it's the same map. It starts at 0, goes a little down and to the left until 10, then it goes straight down till 100, then it does a curve back to the right till 1000, then curves up and to the left for the rest of the numbers beyond that.
4/12/2007 3:05:36 PM
nah that's you just being weird.....
4/12/2007 3:30:27 PM
So if the number 8 makes you think of purple, but it's written in green, what color would you be thinking of?
4/12/2007 3:35:46 PM
i'd be thinking 4 actually
4/12/2007 4:06:50 PM
Since i started the other thread, but then found this one, ill post what i said in here:For me, i see numbers and letters in colors, (the grapheme to color variety). I had always knew i did this sort of strangely, but never thought anything of it until yesterday when i wrote the date as 10/11/07. The girl sitting next to me told me it was wrong. I just briefly glanced at it and couldn't tell anything was wrong until i actually focused on it. It's because for me 10 and 4 have the same color (blue-green) and so without directly looking at it, my brain has a hard time telling them apart. It sort of freaked me out so i decided to look it up.
4/12/2007 4:27:01 PM
I'm definitely of the number-form (spatial) variety of synesthesia - the numbers 1 to whatever, the days of the week, the months of the year, etc. are all arranged in three-dimensional, open loops. For example, whenever I want to think of what month is x months away, I have to find the current month on the curve and then follow it down towards the target. Also, different areas have different sizes, widths, densities.
4/12/2007 4:52:20 PM
^ That's cool. I wish i had the taste one, the color one is pretty crappy. Here's an magazine for it:http://www.clairemills.co.uk/synweb/syn.html
4/12/2007 4:59:37 PM
If I ever have a stroke, I hope I get something cool like this.
4/12/2007 5:39:50 PM
What's the name of the experience of feeling as sight? Also, the total loss of sense of time/space/self?
4/12/2007 8:37:51 PM
my friend has synesthesia, she sees letters and number in color. i like having her color words for me. but i'm weird like that. i once read of a guy with synesthesia and he didn't like the taste of his girlfriend's name so he had to break up with her...
4/12/2007 9:35:48 PM
^ haha, I color names and words, It might be tough to date someone with a depressingly brown name. I know you from somewhere, are you friends with Alexis?
4/12/2007 10:13:01 PM
yeah, i am. well, i'm friend with a girl named alexis, i'll assume it's the same one you're talking about
4/12/2007 10:23:01 PM
this takes paint by number to a whole new level
4/12/2007 10:29:29 PM
^ ha ha I never thought of that

^Haha, hurts my head. I wonder if color by numbers had any influence on my color selection.Does anyone have the taste--music variety? I'd really like to hear someone describe it.^^Yah, i must have seen you at her birthday or something.
