I am having trouble running an older PC game on XP and I have gone through all the compatibility settings and what not. Its Might and Magic the Millenium Edition and Im trying to get World of Xeen to run. Ive gone through Win95 and 98 but I just get a black screen with nothing when I try to start the game. Any ideas would be great.

It is most likely a sound problem. C&C, Duke Nukem, and several other games from 95 require serious workarounds for them to work correctly due to their inability to recognize your sound card. I assume, since you didn't make it perfectly clear, that you tried simply running the program in Win 95 compatibility mode. Make sure that you also put all other executables in the install folder and the cd itself in Win95 compatibility mode, especially the install or setup executable. Also, go to xeen.exe file select properties, select memory and enable xms or ems memory.I'm not sure after this, but I may be able to help more on Monday/Tuesday.

I have also tried DOS Box, with no success either.

I made sure everything was in 95 mode, and turned off all the sound options during install, but I just get a black screen and a cursor icon that dosnt work when I try to launch the game. Its an old DOS game from like 93 and we have tried just about everything. Thanks for the suggestion though.
