there were at least 3 from 93-2001and 2 from 82-83

"more people die each day because of poor healthcaremore people die each day becasue they do not get enough food to eat"That affects other parts of society. The randomness of terrorism means it can hit anyone. Knowing theres a %100 chance several poor people who aren't you will die isn't as scary as knowing that there is a small % chance that you could die.

The food, for one, is not an issue in this country. Thousands of people do not starve to death in the US every day, or even, I should think, every ten years -- and if they do, it isn't from lack of availability of food that they can afford, it's because of some psychological problem they have. The health care...well, I've always been about socializing me some health care, so I won't argue. And while I would also rather die on my feet than live on my knees, I'd rather kill the other son of a bitch before he can kill me and just, well, live on my feet.

World Trade 1 was still an Arab attackand granted you specified us SOIL in the title...but there were multiple attacks on us EMBASSIES and NAVAL SHIPS during that era

8/17/2006 6:17:29 PM
you think the families of the maintenance crew guys who were eating lunch in their basement office when the van exploded think the attack went miserably?but of course, it failed because it didnt knock down the tower(s)...doesnt change the fact that it was a terrorist attack on us soil^haha]

nutsmackr wins with the first postbut it's a point that is receiving increasingly more attentionas it fucking well should
8/17/2006 8:14:09 PM
Sigh. Another "why do we even bother trying to fix problem x when problems y and z are out there" argument.Hey, I've got one. Minimum wage isn't enough to live on. Boo hoo. There are more people that are unemployed than there are people that work at minimum wage, so we shouldn't even think about issues related to minimum wage.Feel free to shove global terrorism under the rug and only address it when the number of terrorist deaths is greater than the number of people dying of hunger/no Blue Cross - Blue Shield. As for me I'll encourage our elected officials to give attention to more than one problem concurrently. And since this is a troll thread to begin with:
8/17/2006 8:47:50 PM
^^No, jbtilley just won the shit out of this thread

8/17/2006 9:11:22 PM
jbtilley ftw.You guys sounds like since there are lots of problems, ignore all of them and concentrate on one at a time. Horrible idea. That's probably the worst idea on teh intarweb.
8/18/2006 12:01:07 AM
Did you even read the post before yours?

Evidently he didn't. Or he failed reading comprehension. Or he doesn't grasp basic logic. Or some combination of all three.Oh look...http://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=427011[Edited on August 18, 2006 at 1:24 AM. Reason : ...]

8/18/2006 2:22:04 PM
Are you suggesting I roll my eyes to help me see where nutsmackr said to "shove global terrorism under the rug and only address it when the number of terrorist deaths is greater than the number of people dying of hunger/no BCBS?"Because keeping my eyes focused on the words you quoted sure doesn't seem to be helping any...
8/18/2006 2:52:31 PM
no i suggest you read the first post of the thread before you call out what jbtilley wroteor are you going to complain that he didnt literally use the phrase "under the rug" so therefore i am completely wrong
8/18/2006 3:21:41 PM
wait...... people listen to Biohazard?
8/18/2006 10:09:16 PM
Was the bolded word really that subtle? It has a fuckton more to do with the fact that jbtilley says nutsmackr or anyone else is sugesting we ONLY address terrorism when the number of terrorist deaths is greater than the number of people dying of hunger/no BCBS. As if government is somehow some zero sum organization that only has the resources to do one thing at a time.Reorienting the public perception of the threat, say...according to its actual likelihood to occur, has absolutely NOTHING to do with sweeping global terrorism under the fucking rug. The government's made terrorism a priority, and it should be, but remote probabilities are receiving a level of attention and reaction as if they were daily occurrences in our own lives when they are anything but.

I'm glad we caught the terrorist with facial moisterizer.
