I found this TV near a dumpster...we need a TV in our common room and I was thinking I could figure out some way to fix it. It's a Philips 27" 27PT5441. The power doesn't fully turn on...it sounds like it charges, but then there is no picture on the screen...the green power light blinks on and shows an error code (three blinks, two blinks, one long blink). I read around on teh intarweb and found out that these TV's are royal pieces of shit and this happens to a lot of em. The fix is usually replacing a blown fuse. After opening up the TV and locating the fuse, it looks fine, intact and not blackened.

After some more searching I find that tritronicsinc.com offers a fix package for this exact problem. It involves replacing a few thermistors/resistors and stuff because Philips put a bunch of cheap components in there that couldn't handle the voltage. With that said, there is obviously some soldering required to replace these parts. I do not know how to solder neither do I have the tools to do so. Can anyone with some TV repair/soldering experience help with this repair? I would be willing to pay depending on difficulty of job.

Or could anybody that has had a similar experience recommend a repair shop that can get this fixed for relatively cheap?

Sorry for WORDS

be careful!!!!!!!

If you don't know what you are doing inside that TV you shouldn't be in there, that picture tube could kill you.

On a lighter note, I doubt it is worth repairing since you are not able to do the repair yourself, the labor cost would probably be more than that TV is worth.
