There are a couple Raleigh RPD near my apartment and I wound up talking to them yesterday about the rash of radio thefts. I asked how they caught some of the guys and they laughed and said GPS. They put tracking GPS's in cars put in known locations for theft. When the radio was removed it triggered the tracking GPS and they were able to folow the guys to their storage locker. Now that's fucking cool. I asked him if he knew how much it cost and he didn't know. He did say it the tag was like the size of a battery that they put inside the radio. It also helps them track down the pawn shops accepting stolen property. Can't sell it, won't steal it. Can anyone confirm this tech?

Its not exactly lojack.Lojack tracks your car, this tracks the radio. Its actually a bit more involved getting a powerfull but small transmitter.

^ This tracks the car too. The transmitter just happens to be in the radio in this case. Nothing new here.
