That quote hurts my head. Does not compute
8/4/2006 8:52:54 PM
this thread kinda creeped me out...i dont really know whats going on but part of me doesnt want to
8/4/2006 8:55:05 PM
You can't argue that it was VERY VERY VERY stupid of her to be walking home under these variables:1 - It was NYC2 - It was 2 am3 - She is a girl4 - She was alone5 - She was drunk6 - She was dressed provocativelyThat's doesn't mean that she wanted to be raped. It is stupid to even say that; I mean, who wants to be raped? When people makes comments, such as O'Reilly, which are interpreted as "she was asking to be raped", what they mean is "she made a very stupid decision to act in such a manner under those circumstances".And I completely agree with that here.Couldn't she have gotten a cab? Asked the bar people to help her? Called someone to come get her? And why the hell did she separate from her friend?
8/4/2006 8:57:25 PM
Sucks
8/4/2006 9:20:26 PM
ohhhhhh, i know what this thread is about nowyeah i heard this on oreily honestly like i think 2 days ago...part of me was like yeah she shouldnt have been in NY dressed like that but oriely kinda seemed to be a douche about it
8/4/2006 9:31:07 PM
Shit like this happens all the time. It is a non-issue.
8/4/2006 9:45:58 PM
the incident is not the issue here, but was o'reilly said.still, what he said is nothing wrong.he pointed out the stupidity of the girl.and he is right.[/thread]
8/4/2006 9:48:07 PM
Yes, let's blame the rape victim.
8/4/2006 9:57:17 PM
I am blaming her for her stupidity, which led her to being raped. There IS such a thing as common sense and taking precautions according to the premises one finds oneself in.You wouldn't go around strolling down Baghdad Avenue or Beirut Avenue. In the same vein, you shouldn't go strolling down NYC at 2 am if you are a drunk alone female.I DO hope the rapist gets the death penalty.
8/4/2006 10:01:00 PM
So it wouldn't be my fault that my mercedes was stolen after I left it in the ghetto with the windows down and the keys in the ignition?
8/4/2006 10:02:37 PM
^has a valid point........we now live in a world where people dont believe they are responsible for any of their actions
8/4/2006 10:04:25 PM
8/4/2006 10:06:09 PM
This is why females should carry handguns.
8/4/2006 10:12:34 PM
a lot of females i know have no business anywhere near a gun............my 95lb grandma would outshoot them any day (she is able to shoot my dads model 29 S&W .44mag consistently)
8/4/2006 10:21:03 PM
I agree. Lack of protection isn't the problem. its lack of common sense. I wouldn't even do what she did, and I'm a guy.
8/4/2006 10:22:28 PM
I concur with OEP herebut I also apply this to http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=423938
8/4/2006 10:40:07 PM
Nothing like setting yourself up for failure.
8/4/2006 10:42:38 PM
shes should have gained 60 lbs before going to her car so that she wouldnt have been so hot she would be impossible to not rape
8/4/2006 10:45:54 PM
No, she should've cut 5% of her face off.
8/4/2006 10:48:52 PM
^^^^The issue there is that the Israeli Gov has not given any explanation for what happened, as in the case of 2 other Westerners being shot/killed by the IDF. The danger is that the Israeli Gov doesn't give a shit about peaceful protesters/relief workers, and no one questions Israel's policies. Here, there is no questioning. The guy is a criminal; punish him. If you want to apply the same analogy to the other issue, then is the Israeli Gov a criminal one?
8/4/2006 10:52:06 PM
yes, both are criminal and should be punished.both are situations where the person involved should have been a bit more thoughtful about their decision to be there.
8/4/2006 11:06:51 PM
8/4/2006 11:46:26 PM
she also should have taken her implants out
8/4/2006 11:54:50 PM
Tell you what, Josh###'s, here's what I want you to do:The next time you're crossing the street at a crosswalk, look both ways. When you see a car coming that doesn't look like it's going to yield and allow you to cross (as it lawfully should), I want you to go ahead and step out into the crosswalk. Even if it's a situation were you wouldn't normally cross, go ahead and do it. By law, the car should stop and allow you to cross--so, don't be afraid, go ahead and do it. Even if he's still doing 45 mph and talking on the cell phone while eating a Jumbo Big Mac, drinking a five gallon Coke, reading the paper, shaving, and driving with his knees. Jump on out there.During your recovery in the hospital, explain to all of us how it feels to be right. Explain to us how the gritty side of reality has revealed to that shitty things happen when you put yourself in a position for them to happen. Then, maybe, you'll understand the meaning of "setting yourself up for failure."
8/5/2006 12:17:21 AM
well....in truth id like to know just how badly you like raping people if a girl just being hot is "setting [herself] up for failure"
8/5/2006 12:25:49 AM
I think we can all realize how stupid her actions were without some douche on TV spelling it out for us.She was raped. O'Reilly seriously needs to stfu about it.
8/5/2006 12:26:13 AM
^^ most of the setting herself up for failure was time, place, and state of sobriety, not just how she looked.
8/5/2006 12:47:06 AM
so nobody should drink in NYC?
8/5/2006 12:49:42 AM
yes. thats exactly what i said.
8/5/2006 12:51:17 AM
she should have teleported home instead of walking[Edited on August 5, 2006 at 1:06 AM. Reason : 2]
8/5/2006 12:55:27 AM
So O' Reilly doesn't want women to be forced to wear those durka things, but then he complains when they dress like sluts? What does he want?
8/5/2006 1:24:18 AM
maybe sumthin in the middle?
8/5/2006 1:27:12 AM
she was stupid to walk home, alone, drunk, in NYC, 18, with little clothing...good grief how many more reasons to you want to say that she shouldn't have been doing the exact things that she was?it is "asking to get raped".no, the dude shouldn't have raped her. no question. chop his balls off. but a wiser choice of actions for her could very easily have kept her from being raped.wear less provocative clothes. be SOBER. walk with a friend. get a cab. get a ride from a friend. don't be out at 2am in flippin NYC
8/5/2006 1:33:24 AM
but youre more likely to be raped by someone you knowso, logically, she was wise to stay away from her friends.
8/5/2006 1:36:35 AM
but.. but..that's not even an argument. i'm right, along with a couple ppl in this thread.
8/5/2006 1:39:45 AM
I don't say how anyone can determine looks were a factor in this rape without pics anyway Seriously... it's possible, and even likely, that a less slutty, sober, taller chick would have been raped had she walked by.[Edited on August 5, 2006 at 1:41 AM. Reason : ]
8/5/2006 1:40:45 AM
anyone who lives in New York is just asking to be raped.so, you know. fuck em.Viva Fox News.
8/5/2006 2:41:23 AM
8/5/2006 2:43:09 AM
8/5/2006 9:02:33 AM
It amazes me that some of you can apparently completely ignore the fact that there are some shitty people on this planet. What kind of sheltered world do you live in? This is no different than all the people who wander around the library, leaving their books, iPods and laptop computers sitting out. They shouldn't be surprised to come back and find them gone. When someone doesn't lock their bike up outside the dorm, they shouldn't be surprised to come back and find it gone. If you leave your front door unlocked, don't be surprised when someone comes in. If your reply to a Nigerian email, don't be surprised when you find your bank account emptied. If you walk around alone and drunk, don't be surprised if you get mugged or worse.Does this make the crime less severe? No.Does this make the victim culpable? No.Should it lessen the criminal's punishment? No.Does it make anyone feel better about the situation? No.It's a fact that are people in this world who make their way through life taking advantage of others. If you put yourself in a position where someone can take advantage of you, it is only a matter of time before it will happen. It's not nice, but it's true.
8/5/2006 9:04:48 AM
It would be interesting to here what the raping murderer has to say. I mean, did he go out looking to rape and kill someone? Or did it just occur to him once he saw an attractive, young, drunk female by herself?Anyway, lots of crime victims are doing something senseless that puts them in the position to be preyed upon, but we don't harp on those senseless things. Why? Because it's fucking tacky and a crime is a crime is a crime.
8/5/2006 10:04:27 AM
maybe if all those whiney jews and muslims could just talk to each other like normal human beings their children would stop getting blown up.
8/5/2006 10:15:19 AM
8/5/2006 11:12:34 AM
^^^ Well, as moron said, "it's possible, and even likely, that a less slutty, sober, taller chick would have been raped had she walked by." It may have not been that night, but chances are this guy was just waiting for "that special someone."You may consider all this to be tacky, but at the same time it's foolish to deny that exercising poor judgement can lead to some very nasty and unintended things.
8/5/2006 12:48:03 PM
walking home alone is not poor judgement. its how to get home.
8/5/2006 12:57:58 PM
It's not poor judgement? Why don't you ask Ms. Moore if she wishes she found another way home?Oh, wait....
8/5/2006 1:07:35 PM
so your argument is based on your ability to speak for dead people? ok.
8/5/2006 1:08:36 PM
No, this is not poor judgement:1 - It was NYC2 - It was 2 am3 - She is a girl4 - She was alone5 - She was drunk6 - She was dressed provocativelyBTW:Couldn't she have gotten a cab? Asked the bar people to help her? Called someone to come get her? And why the hell did she separate from her friend?
