it plays audio CDs but won't play games

what's the deal?

mine has a simliar problem.. it will play a very few select games.. it wont play any movie dvd's and it will play audio cd's. i think the problem is in the drive for me at least. Ive been told you can take it apart and clean the lenses and mirrors but i havent been able to get to the mirros because i dont have the right tools. anyway.. you can buy new drives online but the ones i found were around 70.. someone on here might have some better help.

the older your box is the more likely that the drive is dying. I have an ancient one with a thomson drive, and even after cleaning the mirrors it wont read anything.

There's places around town that'l fix those fux saving you bundles from sending it too microsponge to get it repaired.

i had a similar problem with my ps2...my roomate took it apart and said there was a lot of dust in it...after putting it together he said it worked again
