I have no doubt that cnn reports a lot of misinformation, but not of the kind that you mention.
8/3/2006 1:27:29 AM
i dont wanna sound like a stalker but im pretty sure I saw you stumble into Mitch's.
8/3/2006 1:34:12 AM

i was watching cnn and they were talking about israel using phosforus bombs or whatever which werent "technically" chemical weapons, but they pretty much were. it had a lovely feel-bad story with lebonese dads dying and burnt little kids to accompany it as well. sooooo????
8/3/2006 9:47:50 AM
Yeah, I saw the pictures.
8/3/2006 10:04:49 AM
phosforus bombs are definitely a party pooper. Ignited phosfur that sticks to the skin and melts it off? No thanks.

i am proud to be a capitalist democrat

CNN lies to us? You don't say
8/3/2006 10:35:12 AM
Subtle difference between lying and being in such a rush to get the scoop that you report misinformation. It's not like they knew the miners were dead and turned around and reported the opposite, but I guess it is lying - if you want to look at it that way.
8/3/2006 11:00:58 AM
Look, Anderson Cooper wouldn't lie to us. He was the host of the reality show "The Mole". He's the son of railroad heiress Gloria Vanderbilt, a true man of the streets. He was even a judge on "Iron Chef". A man this serious about the news wouldn't lie to us.

Funny fact about some libertarians:1) If you agree with a wealthy person, their wealth is a positive.2) If you disagree with a wealthy person, their wealth is a negative.
8/3/2006 11:11:47 AM
that is funny
8/3/2006 11:13:57 AM
I guess it's the "self made man" vs. "born into it" angle.
8/3/2006 11:15:09 AM
very few millions are 100% self made.
8/3/2006 11:21:32 AM
you knowi heard that bullets are made of PbOMG CHEMICAL WEAPONS

8/3/2006 11:30:57 AM
You guys remember when Anderson Cooper was on that Channel One news show they showed in high schools? Ever since then I knew he'd never ever lie to me.
8/3/2006 11:33:27 AM
People say things like "very few millionaires are self made" because they don't bother to look into the matter. The Millionaire Next Door is an excellent book, and its a staple for financial advisors to read.
8/3/2006 11:39:39 AM
doesnt matter that CNN wanted to get the scoop on the miners and reported misinformation instead of knowing they were dead and intentionally lyingwhat matters is they fuck up...they're not perfect...theres reason to believe they lie about other stuff
8/3/2006 11:53:11 AM
TreeTwista...fucked up, yes, unacceptable, yes...but it wasn't lying, it was just shitty reporting. Now if they had Dan Rathered some kind of hairbrained story up, that would be lying.
8/3/2006 12:01:23 PM
reuters and AP reported this story as well (and iirc, earlier than cnn did)
8/3/2006 12:03:49 PM
sar, of course they did. Reuters and AP is where CNN does their journalism
8/3/2006 12:04:42 PM
the bigger picture is they dont fact check which is damn near lyingthey care more about "breaking the big story" than "making sure they tell the truth"
8/3/2006 12:07:07 PM
8/3/2006 12:40:52 PM
That I will grant.

I think the definition of millionaire should be changed. Having a net worth of around one million dollars isn't shit anymore (relatively speaking). The definition of a millionaire should be someone that makes over a million a year, imo at least.

No one in the middle-class is under the illusion that being a millionaire makes you super-rich.However, you don't want to make the definition "makes over a million a year" because you're going to get people in there with very little (and some negative) net worths that are in much more of a precarious position than a smart saver that makes $50-60K each year.Trust me, I've had clients that made $400,000 but were upside down in their wealth because of the lifestyle they chose to live.
8/3/2006 2:34:59 PM
As far as terrorism goes, Hezbollah as supposedly killed about 27 Israeli civilians and 39 Israeli soldiers. Israel has killed at least a few hundred Lebanese children, as well as hundreds of other noncombatants. How many Hezbollah fighters they've killed is hard to say. Lebanon says around 80, Israeli says 300-400.

8/3/2006 3:26:21 PM
^That's ok, but what I was trying to say is that you always put the CNN pic up each time you refer to that story.
