For the regular season, he averaged 14.5 points, 11 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per game and has had interest from several Division I colleges. Stricklin said when fans contact potential recruits, the school tries to educate them not do to that or it will hurt the school. He said if that takes care of the problem, there would likely be no further action."

That may be one of stupid things I ever heard. I understand that some rich alumni might try to give a kid some money or something, but the idea that no fans of a certain school can interact with a recruit is ridiculous. What about when there is a superstar recruit who is going to a close in-state school and everyone in the town is a fan of that school. Are those people supposed to not interact with the kid?

I could see a bunch of State fans hitting up http://www.myspace.com/SomeUNCrecruit, preferably after creating usernames like "Ram4Life" or "BabyBlueFag" or whatever, and enticing him to come to Chapel Hill.

This violation does not have any consequence people, get over it. You aren't gonna cause them to lose scholarships or anything.

THe Kentucky guy who started a "News" site and used it to contact recruits is a bigger story. He was a booster and tried to pass off contacting them as sports journalism but was really using it to recruit. He even tried to convince other boosters to join him... he was banned from UK athletic events for 27 years.
