I would go ahead and start a new thread instead of looking at the other billion and fifty on the same topic that have been posted in the past few month. So good going on that.

not a plasma, but the best looking HDTV I have seen is the sony SXRD tvs; they probably cost about the same

SXRD (Sony LCoS technology) is 1080p on most TVs.. You can go cheaper with a similar picture quality with other LCoS tv's such as JVC's D-ILA tv's, but most LCoS tv's are 1080i at the consumer level.[Edited on August 2, 2006 at 7:10 PM. Reason : ]

I'm looking at getting the Westinghouse LVM-42w2 in the next few weeks. 42" LCD that runs at 1080p. Everything I've read on it says the picture is excellent, especially for the price. However, there seems to be an issue with it locking up on occasion so that you can't turn it on until you unplug it and then plug it back in. Supposedly there is a firmware update that will fix the issue, but I haven't read anything concrete yet. I also looked at the SXRDs, but 50" is too big for my apartment, and I would have to wait another month or so to save up enough to buy it, new stand etc.
