Why the fuck do they have to spread ridiculous inaccuracies resulting in the rest of us having to listen to idiots thinking that those things really do happen.Example: The sweetass Ferrari F430 Spider in Miami Vice (just released) shoots blue flames out the exhaust pipes under hard acceleration.Great, now every dumbfuck out there is gonna think that high end Italian sports cars shoot flames out the back[Edited on July 31, 2006 at 1:43 PM. Usually they shoot flames out from under the hood
7/31/2006 1:48:23 PM
^^lolI mean its not as bad as the BS from TFATF, but still not needed

How about the "Fast and the Furious" series? Now every dumbass with $300 bucks thinks a primer grey body kit makes their car go faster. I also loved the "double clutch" thing. Yeah, make sure to double clutch your synchromesh gearbox when you are upshifting during a drag race. "tokyo drift" is gonna be great.

the dukes of hazzard (tv show, havent seen the movie)tires squealing on a dirt road? wtf?
7/31/2006 4:12:30 PM
7/31/2006 4:29:08 PM
tires can squeal at less than 10mphI guess you've never stood near a parking garage with shiny concrete.
7/31/2006 4:32:39 PM
^exactly, when turning in a parking deck in my jeep they squeal like crazy at very low speeds
7/31/2006 4:39:18 PM
tires squeal in parking decks from the high amount of pollution buildup. you know, semi enclosed space, high traffic, low direct rainfall....
7/31/2006 4:54:24 PM
i always figured it was caused by the type of concrete used in the construction.

i wonder why smooth surfaces cause that? hmmm[Edited on July 31, 2006 at 5:30 PM. Reason : .]
7/31/2006 5:30:00 PM
^um...decreased traction? (if you were asking for real)
7/31/2006 10:56:20 PM
I think xvang meant that movies/shows use an EXCESSIVE amount of tire-squealing sound effects you can see extreme examples of this on World's Wildest Police Videos and such
7/31/2006 11:10:56 PM
Haha, those police video shows are great. The acceleration sounds are added in, the tires squealing, sometimes even the police sirens. It's sensational, entertainment TV.

I laughed my ass off with the Dukes of Hazzard movie. Not only would that nose heavy Charger land squarely on its front grill every time it launched into the air, it was a lot of fun watching all the cop cars chase the Charger in the race at the end (effectively being faster than all the "race" cars).oh dear...

Ahahaha, air resistance isn't making the nose come down first.ahahahaha
8/1/2006 2:53:33 PM
I am guessing you guys skipped classes on angular momentum,
8/1/2006 2:57:39 PM
ahh i didn't put too much thought into car jumping previouslyso if a car is going over a jump - the front wheel leaves the jump first - gravity starts slowing it down and then makes it fall - the back wheel is still getting pushed up by the ramp - so when the back wheel leaves the ramp, it is going up but the front wheel is going down and thus there is rotation

I've been near 1 running lamborghini and it most def. shot some serious flames out the exhaust. (I know that is probably not the norm)
8/1/2006 3:35:55 PM
8/1/2006 5:12:51 PM
8/1/2006 5:16:03 PM
^^^that doesn't really mean anything. Its not difficult to make flames shoot out your exhaust. All you need are some spark plugs and a combustible. However, if flames are shooting out of a full length exhaust under full throttle, then the engine isn't running properly.

i think after "Gone in sixty seconds" a lot of people thought that Eleanor could shift up 12 times before shifting down

the car is going to make a paraboloid path through the air, with a landing angle very close if not equal to the launching angle. for the car to do a nose dive and destroy itself it would have to launch at a 45+* angle.******ideal conditions being assumed (uniform launching surface and acceleration, wind resistance, etc)
8/2/2006 1:15:32 AM
The center of mass will follow that path
8/2/2006 1:26:56 AM
^^you are assuming the car's center of mass is in the dead center, most cars are front heavy

WARNING! DANGER TO MANIFOLD!
8/2/2006 4:01:17 PM
The reason that the shinny parking lots make tires squealing is the decorative sealant. The smooth surface helps, but it is the sealant that causes the squel. It does not really protect the asphalt but it looks pretty.
