searched but other thread is old and not specifically about buying online

ive been thinking about buying an 03 TL and have done a small amount of research (enough to know that the transmission can be an issue) and i still think it would be a smart buy to replace my gas guzzler explorer. any opinions on the 03 TL?

the best prices i can find are online (ebay motors, cars.com, etc.) some are private parties, but most are dealers and most are in texas (go figure). assuming the carfax comes back clean, what other things should i look out for? is buying online a completely foolish idea or does it just require added caution.

would really appreciate any pointers/opinions on the TL and/or buying online.

Do the 03 TL's have those shitty automatics that Honda has had recently? Like the one that went out on my buddy's CL or my other friend's Accord?
