Out of all my email accounts, webmail is the only one that gives me spam. I've gotten so many phishing emails from ebay and paypal fakers, not to mention these damn Chase bank emails who keep wanting my debit card number. I thought NC State was anal about security. I would trade webmail for another email address like on yahoo or something, but would that do any good? Would all that crap just forward to that new email?

Setup your server side filters to have a rediculously low Spam level tolerance.

Pure Message eh? From what I read, it's useless as far as spam is concerned.

What did you read that gave you that impression?why don't you just try it and see if it makes a difference. It takes a few minutes to set up. It works fine for me. I get like 2 spam emails in my spam folder (none in my inbox) every few days. I've never gotten any of the emails you guys are talking about. Set up the spam level filter to delete everything over a certain percentage (high, you don't want to delete good emails) then set up another level filter at a much lower percentage and have all of that put into a Spam folder. Check the spam folder every few days and make sure there's no good email in it. You then have the choice of either just deleting what's in the folder or first reporting it and then deleting it.[Edited on July 30, 2006 at 10:56 PM. Reason : .]

I know exactly what you mean about spam, and I never give my email to potential spammers. My solution? GMailI started a gmail account and set up a filter on my Webmail that forwards everything to my Gmail account, which sorts out the spam for me. I can still use my old mail without dealing with the spam.If you need a Gmail invite, mail me at ncsuduncan@gmail.com
