I'd like to know how cricket is played, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

forget everything you know about baseball and cricket makes perfect senseit's like bowling, but with a dude in front of the pins defending them with his batone guy is trying to hit the pins, the other guy gets to smack the ball away and gets points for however many times he runs back and forth between the wickets while the bowling team is chasing down the ball[Edited on July 29, 2006 at 2:42 PM. as of last night when i was listening to the radio they said these guys were 536 for 2, and it looked like they might get the record of 576 for 2, but 624 for 2 is a monster. South Africa must be going apeshit.i also heard that england has a 300 run lead in their match against pakistan.

Crickets really simple once you watch a game. i had some friends watch me play a couple of times and they picked it up immediately. There are 2 versions, 1 is played within a day, something like 8 hours (with lunch breaks) and the other is played over 5 days. The five day game has both teams playing 2 innings each, while the single day game is only an inning each. In the single day games, the bowling team has to try and get 10 outs within 300 pitches and the batting team simply has to score as many runs as they can in those 300. The most you can score of a single pitch is 6 runs ( if you hit it over the fence like a home-run). Otherwise you score as many as you can before the outfielder throws it to base. 2 people bat ( 1 at either end) and they alternate who hits the ball based on how many runs they score. Crossing over once gives you one run, so then the other batter is on the plate. Sounds complicated but watching makes it easy. ^^^^^ i dont think any mexicans play it just yet, lol!!![Edited on July 30, 2006 at 6:57 AM. Reason : .]

7/31/2006 2:07:52 PM
i understood every fourth word in that bolded sentence.thnx to Vir for the description of the game. what the hell is a wicket?
7/31/2006 2:39:11 PM
Or a 'test'?
7/31/2006 3:18:28 PM
LOL!!! a wicket is an out, so 10 outs = 10 wickets. A test match is the longer version that lasts 10 days. The record they set was the most runs scored by 2 batters without either of them getting out. Holy shit, if mexicans are playing it now, i dont know what the world has come to!!!! i gotta see this shit when i get back, must be pretty hilarious!!!
