just got told that we have assigned rooms, like i'm b and some other girl is c. you don't actually have to live in that room, do you? that'd be a tad bit stupid.

haha, well as far as i know the person whose room it is has to agree to the switch, so i don't know if you can straight up lay claim on a room.

best way to do it is make an excuse. "i'm a light sleeper, so i need an A or D room" usually works.

or, better yet, 'i planned all this shit and am here first, and i don't want the room by the door.' any idea which rooms are which, by chance?

Well, that plan would work great, but the fact that you are tied to your room according to the front desk so whoever's room you steal could go into your room and wreck it and you'd be finanicially tied to that room.

At my apartment complex A is the room by the door, and then it goes sequentially away from the door.

They assign rooms to avoid arguments and stuff like that, especially since typically one room is slightly bigger than the rest if you are looking at a 3 bedroom. I know our room C has a bigger bathroom.

Try talking to the person in the room you want. The room next to the door is typically hard to get rid of unless you can find someone in your apartment who typically is out late and you could throw that out there. Good-luck. I would avoid the staking claim plan because that could piss someone off. I know if I had C and the person in A tried that shit, I'd throw all of their shit out the window, haha.

there should be locks on each door.

idk about the room assignments... i'm not worried about it myself cause i'm with all friends from the past couple years but i'd imagine it's not so bad an idea for those random matches n stuff... keep ppl from hatin as soon as they move in

I moved in first, so they just gave me both keys, let me pick my room, and return whichever key i didn't need
