what kind of hippy free love (and scheduled maintenance) world do you live in?

$texas at any shop worth going to.I'd recommend Happy Jap's in Cary (467-2884; on Johnson St near Woody's), Choice Nissan (they do other Japanese cars as well) right where Western and Hillsboro run together out past the fairgrounds, or maybe Phil's Toy Store (I've never dealt with them; one good friend of mine blew a thou there when he had the timing belt and a few other things done on his Lexus).Keep in mind that shop labor usually runs between $75 and $125 an hour, and you're looking at a MINIMUM of 2 hours, maybe more like 3 or 4...and this doesn't include parts. I'm not trying to scare you away from going to a good reputable shop and/or get more business for myself (I have more than I can do right now anyway and can't take on anything else for a while). I'm trying to prepare you to accept the fact that you're going to have to pay good money to have good work done...it's all part of owning a car and taking care of it properly. But then I suspect you may already know that, as you're actually making the attempt.

it's a toyota, and only has 30,000 miles. No worry

wait, you pose a good question...didn't know why i didn't think of it being covered under warranty, but i don't think regular scheduled maintanence is ever included in toyotas...let me do some research[Edited on July 25, 2006 at 5:39 PM. Reason : ha what was i thinking....this ain't no luxury european car with scheduled maintenance included]

seriously, change the oil and keep driving. mine has 100k and the only thing ive ever done is change the oil when it needs and air filter once and brakes whenever they need it. all they do for the 30k thing is look at shit and rape u with stupid charges.

I've had good luck with Happy Japs as well. But as has already been stated, a reputable shop is going to charge, but you often get what you pay for (not to say that there aren't deals out there). As for the warrenty question, most of the time scheduled maintenance is not covered.

new mercedes and others include free maintenance until the warranty runs out. what was happening a lot was people leasing the cars who wouldnt take it in for maintenance and then a lot of run down off-lease cars were flooding the market with a ton of problems- and it wasnt helping the car companies image.
