7/25/2006 12:50:36 PM
winamp was never cool to begin withand personally, i think winace > winrar
7/25/2006 1:27:25 PM
winamp & winrar are the tops in their category - as long as you are using the latest versions
7/25/2006 1:33:22 PM

Everything is freeware except for Stardock's suite:Foxit: small (<1 MB) and quick PDF reader for those sick of the slow and sluggish Adobe Acrobat (~65 MB)Xfire: IM client for PC gamersDesktopX 3.1: I use this guy for widgets at wincustomize.comWindowBlinds 5.1: Skins at wincustomize.comIconPackager: Icons at wincustomize.com^^those 3 are part of stardock's little suiteZone Alarm: A complete firewall unlike Windows FirewallAdAware: Stickies for Windows: Post it notes on your desktop! Without having to dl some widget manager! It's only ~150 KB. Really simple. Comes with no crap. http://finiteloop.org/~btaylor/software/stickies/Tugzip: Better than winrar and freeAny utility at Sysinternals.com. Includes an amazing task manager that blows the one Windows has away and an autorun utility that shows everything that runs at startup, where, and a description. All are just a bunch of small .exe's.Media Monkey: Does everything for your music media. Go to the website and see the details.[Edited on July 25, 2006 at 1:52 PM. Reason : .]

7/25/2006 2:01:18 PM
the j key alone makes me not use windows media player - the shitty visualizations - wmp is TONS more bloated than winamp...
7/25/2006 2:07:26 PM
i should've realized you were just trolling.
7/25/2006 2:07:30 PM
nah i seriously think windows media player is the simplest and best program to run my music
7/25/2006 2:11:08 PM
i used to really like freeamp zinf. then it went to crap. i haven't checked it out in years though.[Edited on July 25, 2006 at 2:16 PM. Reason : oh yeah, it's zinf now]

does anyone use mplayer for windows? (not windows media player, but mplayer)if you have, what do you think about it?
7/25/2006 2:52:33 PM
Winamp Classic is niceThe latest one is bulky and slow.
7/25/2006 3:07:56 PM
winamp is incredibly bulky with terrible memory leaks. if you leave it running for a few days it will balloon to over 200mb at idle. if winamp 2.9x had the playback quality of 5.x, I'd be happy. I still use winamp though. I have a g15 keyboard and that's the best supported player
7/25/2006 3:12:41 PM
anything after winamp 2.x blows

^^Whats the point of having a shit ton of ram if you are going to run some ass ugly program to save a few MB.
7/26/2006 12:32:52 AM
WMP is definitely far more functional than Winamp...no doubt about it
7/26/2006 12:37:54 AM
