where are we running?

in the middle of a big city, prob something that would blend in easily...

for a one-car fits all choice, prob a modded (but stock looking) Evo. fast and AWD.

or maybe a Cayenne Turbo if i needed speed and some actual off-road capability.

Yeah.. i was thinking awd and sleeper...

last thing you want to do is get on the gas a little too much and see the cops face to face.

if i had to set a location i'd say... Houston area.... like the chevy guy...

big roads big feilds big city.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S would be nice.

That's assuming you will be driving across different terrains. Because surely there is nothing more all-round capable than that vehicle. It can outrun most cars on paved road, and still carry on when the road ends.

If just paved road, then I would say any automatic transmission (or semi) supercar would do fine, so you can concentrate on getting away, rather than on shifting. Example: MB SLR.

Caparo T1. Basically an F1 car for the road. Cops would have no clue what to call it. Would be really easy to get away. Though...quite conspicuous. Whatever, its what I would want. Oh...and it has 1000bhp per ton.

it would definitely have to be a sleeper or a fairly common car - something that's not going to attract attention. there's no point in getting away in an exige. i mean, how many exiges are there in this country. the coppers will find you.

some cars i'd consider:
m3 - mmm... m3...
s4 - like the m3, but with awd. it'd come in handy on dirt roads, inclimate weather, and loose gravel.

heavily modded f-150 or f-250 sleeper - off-road capability, and they're very common.
heavily modded '95 impala sleeper - more non-chalant than the m3 or s4. the car is also easily lost in a crowd.

if you're trying to blend in & chose anything other than an accord or camry you are a fucking dumbass. make two turns & there are at least three of the same make, model & color waiting at the next stop light.

GETAWAY car implies, to me at least, GETTING AWAY (to some safe spot/waiting jet etc). Not avoiding capture via some chameleon deception.

are you serious? to straight GET AWAY all you'd need is a >500cc Jap bike, which is what I would want. Acceleration, braking, and handling will outdo any cop car. However, if a helicopter is involved, might as well stop.

read the freaking title to the thread

If its getting away in a big city environment I'm gonna go with an Evo RS (no wing) or WRX STi Limited (no wing). I was thinking an Elise/Exige, but the roads in big cities really blow and your suspension would be fucked in no time. So you're gonna need something with a fair amount of travel.

If its a rural area I'd say Z06...

Actually, I might just say Z06 for best of both worlds..

A bike.

No car is going to get away from a chopper, but a bike is quick enough that things may not progress to that stage.

new audi s8
plenty of room for the whole crew and loot, 450bhp V-10 from the Gallardo, 4380 lb curb weight and gobs of torque down low for moving police cruisers out of the way, 4.7 second 0-60 to get away, and discrete styling so you wont draw attention.

false. wide open desert road & you'll leave small police airplanes behind.

a cop chopper isn't so fast that some cars and bikes couldn't outrun it, but you may not be able to outrun it quickly enough to get out of the pilot's sight before he relayed info and got you busted. plus, it would have to be a open road with nothing to slow you down, and it would have to be straight (because he can cut off distance "as the crow flies").

but really, if you are fast enough to beat the chopper, you're more than fast enough that it'll never get to that point anyway.

the trick in outrunning the man is to outrun him by so far, so quickly, that it doesn't matter what he does or who he calls on the radio.

actually i would have multiple cars and vans placed in various lots with some sort of unpassable obstacle between them so i would park one car, jump across a creek or something and get into a car waiting at the other lot.

One of these to a remote airstrip...

Then one of these to my remote private island...

Of course... I would first need 100 bazillion dollars to buy those, then I would need to learn how to drive those two vehicles, then I probably would beat myself up because if I could afford those two things then I really shouldn't have to plan a "get away" because I robbed/stole something in the first place

fewer helicopters can eclipse 200 than cars can...

and the little police planes are lucky to hit 150.

basically you can pull from the cops if you go 170+ no matter what unless they get military assistance.
but... you can't pull from the radio and the top speed of your car is reduced dramatically by spike strips

anyone know the effect of spike strips on run flats?
i think petter solbergs' badgeless sti w/ runflats would rock the house down.

Actually this thread is stupid.

It should say what car would you modify to run from the cops?.

I doubt the police would bother chasing a Byron(sp), Enzo, or whatever exotic suggested simply because it wouldn't be too hard to figure out whose car wasn't garaged and air conditioned on that day.

They probably wouldn't chase you at all. Just grab your license and wait.
