so aparetnly the XP Pro on my computer is a bootleg copy (my uncle put it on here, it came with XP Home), and now all of the sudden I get these popups every couple minutes saying that I may have been a victum of software counterfitting. There is this little icon in the bottom right too. Is there anywhere to take this alert off (besides going online and paying for legit version)? Help please

1) buy a legit copy, 2) install a crack to bypass Windows Genuine Advantage. figure that one out for yourself.

there are step by step instructions on ms's website about how to remove window's genuine advantage, since it was returning false positives for lots of people.

If you aren't joined to a domain ANDIf you don't use Remote Desktop ANDIf you don't you don't have more than one physical processor.THENYou don't need Windows XP Pro.Have your uncle reinstall Home or get around the Genuine Advantage stuff for you. It WILL come back again ... so-called cracks typically only provide short-term fixes.
