is it just me or is this a ridiculous ideaseems like everyone is going crazy just because he's had a rough few weeksthis happening at the trading deadline has only increased the media fury
7/23/2006 11:21:48 PM
we (tigers) will take him
7/23/2006 11:24:52 PM
This is going on because the NY fans are a bunch of shi$\ heads. The guy is last years MVP and a very good hitter. If the NY fans want to get bent out of shape why not put that "GOD" Jeter over at 3rd. Talk about over rated. This guys is no where near the numbers that Alex has put up but gets a pass.[Edited on July 23, 2006 at 11:27 PM. Reason : .]
7/23/2006 11:26:43 PM
wtf are you talking aboutjeter is the best all around baseball player in the last decade
7/23/2006 11:29:44 PM
only the yankees would pay that kind of money for Arod right now and the yankees asking price for him would be rediculous the tigers have some money to spend but they would have to give up one of their good young pitchers[Edited on July 23, 2006 at 11:31 PM. Reason : ^i call bullshit]

id rather have jeter on my team above every player except for pujols^^ dont fuck with me on baseball[Edited on July 23, 2006 at 11:32 PM. Reason : ,]
7/23/2006 11:32:06 PM
ngaplzi'd take the real a rod over jeter any day of the weekand i'd start my team with johan santana
7/23/2006 11:33:50 PM
i'd say pujols has been better since 2000then i'd say jeter as far as all around player[Edited on July 23, 2006 at 11:35 PM. Reason : i'd start my team with liriano or pujols]
7/23/2006 11:34:53 PM
no better clubhouse guy or all around player than jetersantana is going to not make it into his 30s with the torque he puts on his shoulder
7/23/2006 11:35:01 PM
pujols is by far the better hitter, but pujols is not a leader nor a great baserunner or fielder
7/23/2006 11:35:42 PM
jeter has way better defensejeter only a little better clubhouse guybut pujols is a better hitter than anyone by far[Edited on July 23, 2006 at 11:38 PM. Reason : ^he does lack speed but the bat makes up for everything]

omg the best hitters are the best players omg
7/23/2006 11:40:31 PM
pujols and jeter are both good leader and model citizens/baseball playersthe difference is not too great
7/23/2006 11:40:59 PM
dude pujols is not a clubhouse leader, the biggest knock on him is he is not outspoken and isolates himself
7/23/2006 11:42:06 PM

the WARP stat is ignorant to the changes in lineup structure and many other intricacies
7/23/2006 11:46:36 PM
how about playoff ARSP, playoff BA, GW RBI
7/23/2006 11:47:27 PM
Im sorry dude but taking Jeter over Arod is pretty silly.Jeter is a singles hitter.Arod is a power hitter who normally hits for high average and he's the superior defensive SS as well.ARod at like $16 million a season is a good deal for the Yankees. Jeter at $20 million is a complete ripoff.I know that you know a lot about baseball boobs, but you're out of your mind on this one...
7/23/2006 11:51:11 PM
not to mention the rangers are still eating the majority of his salary
7/23/2006 11:52:17 PM
idk mebbe it is my experience from playing so long to have more respect for what jeter does on a day to day basis, while balancing the team
7/23/2006 11:55:11 PM
not to mention, A-rod the 3B is not as spectacular compared to his positional peers[Edited on July 23, 2006 at 11:57 PM. Reason : sleepy time ]
7/23/2006 11:56:08 PM
Jeter is a solid player and there's no doubt he's a proven playoff performer. But jeter's name will never enter an MVP discussion, his gold gloves are laughable because he consistently finishes near the bottom in range, and honestly his OPS and SLG numbers just get dwarved by ARod's...Add that to the fact the Yankees are actually paying more for Jeter's services than they are ARod's...[Edited on July 23, 2006 at 11:59 PM. Reason : a]
7/23/2006 11:59:13 PM
yeah i'd have to go with a-rod on this
7/24/2006 12:06:49 AM
Jeter has been one of the few constants for the Yankees over the years and that has been invaluable to them. They are paying out the ass for him now to make up for underpaying him in his prime.I just made that up.
7/24/2006 12:12:17 AM
obviouslyjeter has been making $5m since 99 $10m since 2000 and $15m since 2003
7/24/2006 12:30:04 AM
i'd have to go with A-Rod and if he were on my team, i'd put his ass back at SS since he obviously boots the ball around at 3rd
7/24/2006 12:37:50 AM
7/24/2006 1:13:21 AM
not a good fielder?!?!?!?
7/24/2006 1:16:53 AM
Considering that first base is where power hitters go to die.....
7/24/2006 2:56:40 AM
A-Rod to Gloucestershire Cricket Club for Cristiano Ronaldo to New York Red Bulls.
7/24/2006 3:09:57 AM
Cap relief, obviously.
7/24/2006 3:15:37 AM
I like arod just where he is.. It's fun to watch him implode and take the yanquis with him!
7/24/2006 5:35:52 AM
^I like your thinking.
7/24/2006 5:47:00 AM
ARod isn't going anywhere. (and I'd take him over Jeter too)
7/24/2006 9:47:44 AM
7/24/2006 9:56:43 AM
rallydurham wins this argument. Jeter's defense is super over-rated and he'll never put up the OPS that A-Rod does. I'd take A-Rod over Jeter every day of the week unless you needed someone for a team like the Phillies that needs a leader and already has hitting. In a situation like that I'd consider Jeter.
7/24/2006 10:06:03 AM
A-Rod the SS is a different story than A-Rod the 3BI still take jeter the SS over A-Rod the 3B
7/24/2006 11:46:23 AM
this thread is not about a rod vs jeter
7/24/2006 1:02:59 PM
7/24/2006 5:40:29 PM
because former cardinals have said that pujols is basically passive in the clubhouse
