7/23/2006 9:02:37 PM

7/23/2006 9:03:41 PM

^^yeah my guess is she works at some retail store while she's in college and she will graduate before another tax free weekend comes around[Edited on July 23, 2006 at 9:16 PM. Reason : slow]
7/23/2006 9:16:39 PM

7/23/2006 9:19:42 PM
Oh hell...It's august 4-6?I thought it was 11-13...The bookstore's going to be disappointed when I tell them I actually can't work but three hours on one of those days (family will be in town, I can't miss that).
7/23/2006 9:24:50 PM
Best Buy will be a zoo.
7/23/2006 9:42:47 PM
best buy is always a zoo. the one is crossroads lost its a/c and with the heat & rain today, it smelled downright funky.
7/23/2006 9:54:38 PM
I may go to the outlets in Smithfield. That place will be hell.
7/23/2006 9:55:00 PM
the hassle of dealing with all the people isnt worth the 7% tax break
7/23/2006 10:47:48 PM
7/24/2006 12:02:20 AM
i might buy a white A&F polo, b.c i've been hanging on to a gift certificate for awhile.trying to decide if i need some computer supplies. might buy a new frisbee too and some tennis balls.
7/24/2006 12:45:00 AM
definitely gotta hit up walkmart for some button ups
7/24/2006 12:50:38 AM
umm frisbees and tennis balls wont countbut seriously, to the people who are going shopping, why?i can understand on something big like a computer, but why do people go apeshit on buying clothes for 7% off?
7/24/2006 12:57:36 AM
Lots of places have sales going on so you're not just saving the 7%.
7/24/2006 1:07:13 AM
Eh, since I incorporated I don't have to pay sales tax on computer stuff anyways . . . . .
7/24/2006 1:39:48 AM
To everyone that's arguing about the tax free weekend... Feel free to write your congressman about how you think they should do away with it. I'll even include some text, all you have to do is cut, paste, and fire off the e-mail...Dear Congressman Bob Etheridge,I hate saving money. The only thing I hate more than saving money is seeing others save money. In light of this, please do all that is within your power to rid the state of the blight that is the tax free weekend.Sincerely,Jerk Q. Public
7/24/2006 8:15:06 AM
buy all of your computer stuff online....it's always a tax free weekend.
7/24/2006 8:34:27 AM
Usually the stores will have their super sale during this weekend. I guarantee belks will go 50% off with a 50% red dot.
7/24/2006 9:04:36 AM
Hmm. What do I need.
7/24/2006 9:14:37 AM
actually the stuff 50% or 75% will have a red dot of 50% later this week...so its before tax free (dunno about the sales for tax free weekend yet)
7/24/2006 9:17:59 AM
hells yes!
7/24/2006 9:49:39 AM
Hmm. And I'll be in Raleigh this weekend, broke as fuck.
7/24/2006 10:15:44 AM
bttt.. Starts Tomorrow. I'll probably get a couple of new dress shirts. I need some badly.
8/3/2006 7:49:04 PM
if anyone is going to kohls, send me a PM....not because I want you to pick something up, either
8/3/2006 7:51:13 PM
tomorrow at belk its an extra 50% off red dots
8/3/2006 10:50:16 PM
actually it started at 2pm today. please do not shop at belk's. thanks. oh and also, the circular says that all junior girls stuff will be on sale for 30%.. it always is. one more thing, please do not trash our fitting rooms!
8/4/2006 2:16:12 AM
People make too big of a deal out of this bullshit."OH SHIT, a 7% OFF SALE!"It isn't that serious. If you did even a slight bit of shopping/research, you can find a better deal any normal day of the year. But no, since people make a huge deal out of this bullshit weekend, I am stuck working at Circuit City from 6:30am-7pm on my 21st birthday. Fuck that. Fuck this.
8/4/2006 8:12:23 AM
i dont know...this is a time when everything you need for school is on sale. im sure you could find better deals throughout the year, but they probably wouldnt all fall on the same day ( or weekend). this is simply more convinient.don't work retail if you don't want to deal with this kind of thing.[Edited on August 4, 2006 at 8:17 AM. Reason : df]
8/4/2006 8:16:59 AM
get a different job if it upsets you - i never worked on any of my birthdays until my 23rd - i took off every single one up until then - only took a half day for this year7% isn't a huge deal on smaller purchases - most places have pretty large sales also though - i know you don't think the typical person that walks into circuit city cares - they've been brainwashed to believe they should just buy b/c they are saving money
8/4/2006 8:17:55 AM
I thought the tax free was just for clothes and school supplies type stuff? I was in the mall the other day (Cary) with my wife in a perfume/cologne store and the lady there said to comeback this weekend since it'll be tax free. Not that saving like 6 or 7% is all that big a deal, but I didn't think that would qualify
8/4/2006 8:21:29 AM
Since everyone is bringing up where they work,BN doesn't have all books tax free, only Reference Books like dictionaries, thesauri, children's school work books and textbooks, etc. The minimal school supplies are tax free too, like pens, pencils, markers, etc.
8/4/2006 8:42:01 AM
I need to pick up Office 2004 for my new Mac... will this be considered tax free? I didn't see any kind of software on the list, but it seems like it would be.
8/4/2006 8:44:29 AM
theoretically....
8/4/2006 8:52:46 AM
so can you not buy textbooks online from the Bookstore tax-free. I just tried doing this but it was still adding tax to the total and all the books are under 100.
8/4/2006 9:45:45 AM
why would perfume be tax free? That's not school related. I also heard that Apple is trying to make a case for their Ipods to be tax free.
8/4/2006 12:31:05 PM
^^ they probably aren't going to change their website for 1 weekend - it's a small operation^ did you hear ambrosia made a thread about it[Edited on August 4, 2006 at 12:43 PM. Reason : .]
8/4/2006 12:32:28 PM
I agree with Ronny. I don't think having to deal with the 2304238753495 other people out this weekend is really worth saving 7%. That said, I am going to the mall tonight, but only as a companion.
8/4/2006 12:40:02 PM

The NCSU Bookstore should have extended its hours more for the tax-free weekend. They are opening on Saturday and Sunday, but they should be staying open until at least 9 p.m. (Friday through Sunday)--and I would prefer they stay open until midnight.I went to the Bookstore around 5:30 this afternoon, and in the few minutes that I was there, I saw over ten people walking up to the door and close to ten cars with people apparently looking to shop. The Bookstore managers obviously don't give a crap about customer service.
8/4/2006 5:54:36 PM
customer service? the bookstore doesn't even have many people to work there to begin with...if the workers go on over time the bookstore will have to pay them even more money which they probably don't want to do.. and midnight? thats stupid once again they don't have many people working at the bookstore
8/5/2006 10:22:58 AM
OMG7%!!!!!wows!
8/5/2006 10:34:38 AM
