I think the Texans were afraid of this exact scenario, and also decided that they needed more help on the lines than in the backfield. Brings up the Eli Manning issue of, "Do players have rights such as choosing their first team?" discuss.

The Saints are fucking idiots.Like Sports Guy said, there should be a clause that allows for fans to occasionally cheer against their team. I'm taking my voucher.Fucking wasted 2nd pick, wasted draft, wasted expectations, wasted history, wasted franchise.Gotdamned situational multi-position players are NOT worth top pick status. This cat won't be full-time anywhere on the field. This is absurd, but unfortunately is a mere byproduct of the ESPN Reginald Lovefest. He feels entitled to more than he's worth, more than the man who was picked before him, more than any rookie has ever earned on an initial contract.Saints brass went bad on their promise to fill a team need with the second overall pick and now have egg in the face for it. Dumb fuckers.[Edited on July 22, 2006 at 10:10 PM. Reason : fuck ESPN. fuck ESPN. fuck ESPN. fuck ESPN. fuck ESPN. fuck ESPN. fuck ESPN. fuck ESPN. fuck ESPN.]

Like he would really sit out. What team is gonna risk drafting him high the next year when he's done this already? I'm sure somebody will draft him, but not at #2.He hasn't done jack yet and expects to get paid.Ha. There's a glut of RB's in the NFL, most of whom have short careers. And he won't even be an every-down back.Ha. The Saints are cursed.
7/22/2006 10:21:11 PM
he'll go to the CFL and collects his endorsement money. Seriously, would you play for the Saints? Crappy owner, crappy city, crappy team.
7/22/2006 10:34:15 PM
well he's already Saint Reginald (oddly enough, the ACTUAL St. Reginald is from Orleans):http://www.catholic.org/hf/faith/story.php?id=20059and he already deserves to be rookie of the year:http://www.nola.com/saints/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-2/1151906459103650.xml&coll=1goddamn I hate being associated with this team right about now.
7/22/2006 10:55:33 PM
It'd be funny if they lost the Saints and the Hornets at the same time.....still a real possibility within the next 10 years.
7/22/2006 11:01:07 PM
what a shock!!!
7/22/2006 11:16:59 PM
I had a feeling Reggie Bush would be ask for a lot of money with all of the hype surrounding him. He shouldn't ask for more money than Mario got, and the Saints shouldn't pay him more.I think part of the reason Reggie is demanding such a high price tag, is because his value is so high and if he has a bad season or loses his "Superman" image, then he'll have a hard time getting a huge deal later. The Texans must have known about this, a really good move on their part.
7/23/2006 12:18:55 AM
the funny part is that mario will still have more money than him if he holds out since he will have another year of pay under his belt.
7/23/2006 1:41:12 AM
Someone break this guy's knee alreadyHe hasn't even been to 1 legit practice and I'm already beyond tired of him
7/23/2006 1:56:36 AM
i hate him because of his demand to break the NFL rules so he can wear his precious #5he hasn't earned thatas a matter of fact, he hasn't done jack shithe's done as much as TAwho was the last "second coming" in the NFL?michael vick, who still gets his nuts ridden by ESPN as if he has proven himself to be more than a marginal asset IN REALITY, as opposed to "in theory, assuming he never gets hurt"and he's got as many super bowl rings as i doin conclusion, i hope reggie bush fails
7/23/2006 2:07:56 AM
Finallypeople who agree with meeven if you aren't Saints fans
7/23/2006 2:15:12 AM
Hilarious. When Philip Rivers held out it was "the Chargers are assholes"but when Reggie Bush holds out "Reggie Bush is an asshole".Just come out and say that you don't like black people already.[Edited on July 23, 2006 at 3:44 AM. Reason : a]

^state fans are pretty dumb...half of them are obsessed with unc, and unc is like uhhhhhhhhhhh we just really hate duke honestly
7/23/2006 3:42:25 AM
7/23/2006 3:46:16 AM
yea for real, alot of us are freakin embarassingwe skew polls so we can win Mascot tournamentsMASCOT TOURNAMENTSwe cheer against the success of the conference in spite of a team that we hate, UNC has nothing against us
7/23/2006 3:46:26 AM
7/23/2006 4:26:39 AM
UNC pretends to not care about us because thats be biggest sign of disrespect, when in fact they would hate nothing more than to start regularly losing to us. And Phillip Rivers didnt try to get a ridiculous amount of money. He tried to get a fair contract, and settled for less overall money when he finally signed his contract so he wouldnt have to win like 34 superbowls to get it all. Reggie Bush is just jealous that he wasnt the #1 pick overall. bahaha
7/23/2006 9:31:48 AM
^ that's just false and you know it.Philip held out because he wanted the same amount of money that Eli Manning got.
7/23/2006 9:59:31 AM
he wanted the same guaranteed money, instead of it all being locked up in incentives. either way, he never hinted at not signing and reentering the draft.
7/23/2006 10:40:59 AM
^^actually, that is not trueagent/phil both said that they did not necessarily want eli money, just a fair contractdon't have the specifics, but the chargers offer included incentives that were down right disrespectfulif bush really does want more money than mario, that is his fault, and he should be ridiculed....no agent should feel that his/her client has enough leverage to circumvent the system, draft order should = cash order[Edited on July 23, 2006 at 10:46 AM. Reason : .]
7/23/2006 10:45:59 AM
^i think if the team wants to pay a second pick more than a first, they can do what they want, but surely no player should feel like they can demand more money as a second pick than a first
7/23/2006 12:12:54 PM
^that is what i was sayinga team can do whatever the fuck they wantbut this CAN'T and I emphasize CAN'T be grounds for a player holding out
7/23/2006 12:38:44 PM
You guys have some really selective memories.
7/23/2006 12:46:06 PM
You gotta keep in mind that it's not the players that say these things, it's the agents. Rivers never said, "I deserve to be paid as much as Eli", his agent did. Same with Bush and whoever this guy is who is hinting that he might hold out all year. These are typical negotiation ploys designed to get a team to fork up more cash. Now if Bush actually makes good on his agent's threat, despite the Saints offering him a great deal, then you gotta ask if you can trust the guy and just how special he THINKS he is.

How are you going to blame Bush when the team in question is owned by Benson?
7/23/2006 9:45:24 PM
Camp Reginald are the ones saying no.Obviously the Saints want him, they passed up the opportunity to fill holes at LB, OT, and CB to draft him.
7/23/2006 9:57:19 PM
I'd like to know whether the Saints are offering him Mario Williams type money or John McCargo money before throwing him under the bus.
7/23/2006 10:54:37 PM
^ that's a good point... what are they offering... if it's less than he's worth then he has every right not to sign with them...
7/23/2006 10:57:54 PM
yea he does have every right not to, but for his future in the NFL it would be wiser for him to do sothis primadonna image is horrible to have, ask Moss, T.O., Eli (til last year, he did well enough), Rivers (especially if he fucking bombs this year), Portis (about getting his number), etcso after all this, he better do some fucking damage
7/23/2006 11:01:44 PM
Dude, if it comes out that he's being offered McCargo money, I highly doubt any team is going to go "oh wow, what a primadonna"
7/23/2006 11:03:47 PM
well i think that sthe low end bet to takeunless saints really are that fuckin dumb
7/23/2006 11:25:22 PM
Reginald wants MORE money than Mario Williams. Despite being the 2nd pick. Because he FEELS he was SUPPOSED to go first. Wannabe privileged ass muhfucka. That's like if Matt Leinart were to say "I should have gone 3rd, so pay me like the 3rd overall pick"He has already- lost out on being the top pick overall, due to his ridiculous demands- lost out on getting the NFL to change their rules, so he can wear number 5- stated that he would only donate to hurricane relief if he got to wear 5- ^ backpedaled on that stipulation after it appeared that the NFL would not change the rule- been rumored as saying that he doesn't wanna play for the Saintsand now this.pretty soon he will find that he won't dominate the league as much as expected, whether it's this year or next year. he'll find that NFL defenses are 20x better than the shit he faced in the wac-10.

7/23/2006 11:55:44 PM
IF IT AINT RED AND WHITE IT AINT RIGHT REMEMBERand
7/24/2006 12:12:48 AM
Listen dude, this has jack shit to do about race!! So tuck your race card in your ass already. Both of them Phillip and Reggie and all other rookies who have such high demands, and havent even sniffed NFL grass are fuckin moronic assholes. Its getting worse every year!!!These guys get their heads blown up, and then they think they're better than everyone else. The audacity of these fuckin kids, in this grown man sport. Rivers fuckin sucked in my opinion (still does), Reggie is waaayy overrated and will fail to be a pro RB, like I mentioned moths ago in my thread. None of them are worth "THAT" much money (30 million +) thats fuckin terrible!! Rivers mainly. Reggies amount can be argued, but still not 30 mill to an unproven offensive player.
7/24/2006 12:19:41 AM
^^ yeah, the time period between the statement and the retraction was about a day or two - surprised the media didn't make a stink about it, BUT OH WAIT THIS IS REGINALD ALFRED WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HERE.
7/24/2006 12:21:58 AM
eli's number was around 45 million, so why then did rivers sign for 40.5agents say stupid shit all the time, just listen to drew rosenhaus look the camera and the media in the eye and tell the world that his client, TO, is misunderstoodagent may have put the word out that p. rivers was looking for eli type money, but it did not seem that that was their realistic expectation, they just wanted more than was originally offeredi am not even really defending rivers here, i honestly think he was better served to sign, but for you to sit here and paint broad strokes with very little information, and to ignore that the chargers are notoriously cheap, and by all accounts the 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd offerings from the chargers were a fucking joke for a #4 qb pick is absurdholding out is wrong, they should just institute an NBA style structure where each level in the first round has guaranteed $ boundaries, and it would solve a lot of problems
7/24/2006 12:26:03 AM
TO is understood
7/24/2006 2:39:06 AM
^^yea, they should put NBA-style rookie salary structure on the last labor agreement.
7/24/2006 8:31:12 AM
guys, remember that this is the first time these kids have ever signed a contract for this type of silly money.wouldnt you do everything in your powers to make that number as high as you could possibly attain? theres no guarantee you wont be hit by a bus on your way to your first game and not be able to play ever again.tell me for a fact that if you were in the position you wouldnt argue for as much money as you could. theres no way if you were in bush's shoes you would just say "well, i was drafted second, so i guess ill have to settle for a deal that i could probably get more money out of, but i dont want to be seen as a primadonna, ill take a few million less, thanks."sure.
7/24/2006 8:43:43 AM
It's all undeserved sense of entitlement anyways. At the end of the day he's just some guy who can hold a football and run.
7/24/2006 8:52:39 AM
at the end of the day, they (meaning all marquee sports players) are responsible for bringing fans paying large amounts of money to go to games, buy merchandise, buy food, buy beer, pay for parking, hopefully build a good team so network television can charge more for commericals during their games, etc.the nfl (and most other sports organizations) is no longer "just a game", its a business. does that mean the players should get paid what they do? maybe, maybe not, but at the end of the, hes not just a guy who can hold a football and run.
