this is solid wood right? No engineering materials (plywood) right? What kind of wood and why is the tabletop stained and varnished?

^^ $10 would of taken it. Someone got it and a coffee table yesterday for free from another thread since this one had no replies. Sorry.

^ The top was laminated particle board. The legs & chairs were real wood.
