Enough to link your bank account to it?I have some money in a paypal account ($10), but they either want to charge me $1.50 to mail it or have a record of my checking account number (which i'm not cool with). Is there anyway to get them to put it back on my credit card?Stupid me and stupid paypal.
7/21/2006 6:51:32 PM
just buy something on ebay for less than/equal to $10
7/21/2006 6:58:22 PM
millions of people are linked to paypal - you are an idiot to not trust themhell ebay owns them...
7/21/2006 6:58:54 PM
I have had my account linked to them for many years. never had a problem and i do alot of transactions on ebay (buy and sell) if youre just a buyer u have nothing to worry about.if youre a seller, then link paypal to a checking account with no overdraft protection, and transfer money out soon after it hits that account. that way, if theres some bs chargeback situation then paypal can't go fishing in your bank account.
7/21/2006 7:18:47 PM
I transfer money in there because it is insure up to i believe $5,000 for the money market, which generally has good interest rates
7/22/2006 12:06:04 AM
it's fine to link it for withdrawls, but ^ is probably not the smartest idea I've ever heardthey're notorious for locking up your cash. paypaysucks.com exists for a reason
7/22/2006 12:09:39 AM
7/22/2006 12:23:09 AM
^^ i dont keep large amounts in there, just about $500 or so for ebay splurges and it draws better interest than a savings account, i would never put a lot of my money in it for the reasons you have listed
7/22/2006 12:28:08 AM
Paypal works fucking greatttttttt, it's almost like a new type of barter for products just over Ebay, I can tell you with complete cofidence that they won't fuck you over.[Edited on July 22, 2006 at 12:30 AM. Reason : watch out for phony e-mail]

If they take your money you have a very rich company to come after for it.
7/22/2006 1:29:17 PM
i meanits payPAL
7/22/2006 1:31:00 PM
They have had my account info since 2003, nothing bad has happened.
7/22/2006 3:14:53 PM
7/23/2006 2:51:57 PM
I don't trust paypal because one time I told him a secret and then I found out he opened his mouth and told everyone
7/23/2006 3:06:35 PM
Yes. Except for the fees they're pretty good. Would YOU like to know more???
7/23/2006 3:36:32 PM
I've had paypal linked to my checking account for probably 5 years (or more), and never had any problem whatsoeverthere are some horror stories, but they've been nothing but straight with me
7/23/2006 3:39:19 PM
I dont keep money with them but i've never had problems with them really. It's linked to my account but i never keep more than $30 in there. Noone i know has had problems either.
7/23/2006 7:48:30 PM
I used to hear all sorts of horror stories about paypal and their customer service, but that was before ebay bought them out.
7/23/2006 8:05:41 PM
i've had my paypal account hacked and over 2k worth of fraudulaunt charges made for urls and other webspace purchases. Took me forever to get it settled and now my paypal account is permanently locked. I don't even mess with it anymore.
7/24/2006 8:10:11 AM
yeah, i'm just going with the $1.50 charge. fuck linking my account.i've gone 7 years without doing it and i'm not gonna start now.
7/24/2006 2:09:19 PM
I started a savings account that only had like $5 in it. After I transfered the money I closed that account up.
7/24/2006 6:55:42 PM
I linked my account but I've never actually received money on paypal. I only use it to buy stuff.
7/25/2006 12:54:07 AM
I've had my account linked on there for a long time and nothing bad has ever come of it.
7/25/2006 1:00:03 AM
Paypals more trustworthy than you're own bank, fuck I bet they'll become a public bank of their own one day with their own type of barter,.... OH SHIT, THAT'S ALREADY HAPPENED.Yah, you can trust them, like a billion+ ebay users do, the only ones who really complain are the ones who get jewed by other ebay users and paypal has a refund system for that too, i'm not saying it's foulproff tho, there are things like people who can hack your acc, and fishing e-mails to do it too.
7/25/2006 1:05:00 AM
yeah i'd rather take the $1.50 hit, rather than have my account info all over the web.they make no bones about avoiding responsibility if they fuck up. if they fuck up, it's still my fault.i've read their user agreement and it doesn't jive with my bank's user agreement. end of story.
7/27/2006 12:42:53 AM
i trust paypal.i dont like that ebay owns them, but it seems to work fine, and enables me to take credit card orders-ZiP!-
7/27/2006 11:29:58 AM
has anyone ever had to use the dispute resolution/claim with paypal?
7/27/2006 11:46:48 AM
PARANOID MUCH TWW?
7/27/2006 12:03:45 PM
no, it's that i just got burned on a purchase.
7/27/2006 12:19:56 PM
I don't trust them. They have had all kinds of computer problems. I keep entering my personal information in their system just to have the stupid thing go down again a few days later At least I got a couple of free transfers for each of their screw-ups.
7/28/2006 8:13:59 AM
I used it to get $100 back one time when I got burned on Ebay
7/28/2006 8:20:35 AM
I guess this is why Paypal just finished settling a multi million dollar lawsuit against over 100,000 complaitants. I recieved a check for $198.00 a couple weeks ago. Paypal is horrible for allowing scammers to abuse their system. Even now after Ebay has taken over there are still problems with scammers and paypal's response is completely on the scammers side.[Edited on July 28, 2006 at 1:24 PM. I've just started using paypal quite recently. Its the same thing with everything, nothing is 100% safe. You have to keep track of the money you've sent and the money in your account. If all of a sudden you're missing a $1000 when you haven't bought anything or sent payment for anything over $100 you know there is a problem. Its like when I started using my check card for purchases over the internet. If I bought something for $30 I expect to see a withdrawal on my bank statement for $30.Hell last week I accidentally sent a double payment, I didn't notice it until I got my bank statement. I e-mailed the guy and he sent me a refund. [Edited on July 28, 2006 at 2:58 PM. Reason : .....]

^^ Exactly. You people just don't understand how easy it is.Start a PayPal account w/ a fake CC, buy a TON of crap on eBay, and it'll all arrive to you. About a week later all those sellers get that "money" you sent ganked from their accounts and a "Oh crap, your buyer was a scammer, TOUGH LUCK NIGGER!" email from them. Problem is, you said that was cool beans when you signed up for the account.Think I'm kidding? It happened to hundreds of thousands of folks, and it happens more every single day. PayPal doesn't give two craps about the seller.

I keep about $3000 in my paypal account, just because I get a better interest rate there than I do with a savings account/CD's.

Has anyone ever used paypal for Craigslist? I know the point of Craigslist is to use local pickup to avoid shipping scams ( or lack of shipping the non existent product for scams). But I saw something I wanted and the person claims to have moved since then and suggested paypal via email, seems really fishy to me since they aren't just selling in their current residence, which is outside NC.
8/2/2006 12:10:22 PM
pay on pickup
8/2/2006 12:12:34 PM
??^ I think they want to mail it
