Man-Mur Barber Shop next to Papa John's on Hillsborough Street--right across from the library. If you get the right barber, you can get a pretty good haircut for $12.

im trying to avoid anything with super/great/clips/cuts in the name if possible.

even if they do a good job normally, you've eventually get a hack who fucks your head up.

I don't agree

I used to think that, but you can make appointments with your fav stylist there, and most are pretty good.

But then I am not that metrosexual so don't really care a lot.

no, do not go there, you'll get man-murdered! They only know how to do one style of cut and it is short!

The title of the tread is "Good Mens [sic] Haircut Near Campus?" Man-Mur gives good men's haircuts, but as I said, you have to find the right barber.

In any barber shop with several barbers, there are usually a couple that will make you look like an accident victim--caveat emptor.

i had a man mur cut open the back of my neck with a razor blade at man mur

haven't been back since then

i've resorted to doing my own hair cuts

its pretty sweet because they are always free and I know it'll be done right

To jnpaul: Don't let ANYBODY shave your neck with a shared razor! The only way that any instrument has a chance of being free from contaminants is if it has been run through an autoclave. I haven't seen any autoclaves in ANY barbershops lately, have you?

Most barbershops just use the green shit. Do you trust that Scope-looking goop to kill HIV or other diseases? I don't!

If you want a clean-shaved neck, carry your own disposable razor.

Unless the place on hillsborough street has changed, dont go there.. totally screwed up an ex's hair a long while back. I mean like..woooah.

I actually like Great Clips. Then again, I don't get my hair cut often, and I damn sure ain't paying out the ass for it if its just a cut. If I ever decide to color/perm/or do something challenging to it, maybe i'll fork over the cash and go somewhere.. but for now, I refused to pay over 11 bucks for a cut , and usually i wait till they're doing them for 3.

^^ They have state-required inpections for all barbers and beauticians/salons. If someone isn't sterilizing their shit by state goverment-mandated standards, they'll have a really terrible rating. Otherwise, don't worry about stupid shit like that unless you've personally been a victim of infection from something like that.

I would definitely recommend Man-Mur if you're looking at careers in the military. Otherwise, don't go there.

that was one of the worst, most generic hair cuts ever. it could have turned out bad ass if they had omited the last step of cutting my long hair in the front into short ass dumb and dumber bangs.

I used to go to the cutting edge when I lived near campus. Never had a bad haircut there. But the girl that cut my hair, Megg, moved to LA.

Matt Fields, don't ask me how I remember his name, is this older looking guy who works at the place in Cary next to Hibachi Xpress across from Crossroads. I would always go to him for my haircuts, and he did a stellar job because he has some extra licenses from a couple of other states. I have since moved and haven't found anyone who can cut as good as he can.

^i may try this jd's place out. i've been meaning to get a hair cut for a while now. i usually just go to manmur. sometimes it turns out well, other times not so hot. but honestly it doesn't make a difference after a week or so.

maybe i should rethink that decision (because i actually have hair):

Great Clips at Mission Valley. I went there about two weeks ago. I think the name of the lady that cut my hair was Safir, she did a really good job and seemed like a nice person.

where should one get their hair cut if they don't have a buzz or similarly short hair?

Where should I go to get the absolute cheapest haircut possible? I mean, are there any hairstyling schools or something in that vein that do them for really cheap? I don't care if I look like Lloyd Christmas or anybody else, I'm just sick of paying $15 every time.

Cost Cutters near Jax on Avent Ferry. Ask for Black Tonya. I've never had a bad HC from her.

Sportclips is decent in Cary if you get someone good there. It's 15 for a haircut. You should be able to find coupons around to get it cheaper.

Yes.

The really old, white hair guy is a damn good barber & does a great neck shave. I've been going to him for 4 years. The big wrestler looking guy is pretty good also, but he won't do a neck shave unless you request it.

I did have a mid-older, brown hair guy, that sounded like the owner give me a cut one time & he was awful. I've only had him once though.
