if you're talking about downtown(that's where I work so that's where I know)- Side Street Deli, anywhere at city market except Woody's, Carolina Cafe and Bakery- Fayetteville Street, the Capitol Room... just a few places we go.

Hard Times Cafe - chili is their main thing, which is good, and the prices are cheapMellow Mushroom - slice and salad is cheapOakwood Cafe - cuban/argentinian at a good priceCaffe Luna - dinner is very reasonable here tooBali Hai - its on the southern tip of Wake Forest Rd so not far from downtown, its a mongolian grillRiviera - new restaurant, small plates make for great lunches
