dunno if this is the right place to post this, (and maybe theres a thread about this out there somewhere) but what happened to amores on hillsborough street?

that place was THE BEST and when i drove by it on sunday, i saw cardboard over the windows and all....

it would absolutely SUCK if that place doesnt open again. whenever i have friends/family come into town, thats where we would go eat....

if anyone knows the story, please post.

and they often go for shorter hours and whatnot in the summer anyway, so it's not surprising they'd choose summer to shut down for remodelling.

all of the pizza places sell the same pizza, but that place had the best interior so it has the edge

that is a completely erroneous statement. sylvia's, farmhouse, and brothers (or is two guys that is still open? i haven't been to either in years) have very different pizza. ny pizza, while the same style, is pretty different too. amore's is the best on the street if it's fresh. unfortunately, they're not as popular as some of the other places, so if you go at a non-peak time, the pizza will be old.

talked to sylvia (pizza man) and he said they don't make any money during the summer, so they close. they'll be open again for the fall.

You can always ask for a fresh personal pizza.

And yea Amore's is adding a full bar (they got a liquor license), it's going to be more of a pub atmosphere aka Ruckus, later hours and live music.

Basically it's going to be more awesome than it already is, and it will be considerably bigger

I really dislike their seating (with the exception of the couches). It's like they hired an Indian to do their interior designing.

if you think that pizza is all the same you do not have taste buds for good pizza

amores is very good, some of the best NY style around

I love NY is god awful around here, they use some real greasy ass cheese, it is nasty

^^^ yeah, those chairs in the main dining room are soooo messed up. you'd have to break your back to actually be able to use the back of the chair. i usually sit at the couches or in the room with the pool table.

yeah everytime i go in there when i am in that section of town i seem to pay more, i only go once every couple months, wish it wasnt so far away, i miss good pizza

even with higher prices it is well worth it, but i am not in college anymore so i can see where it may become a problem for the students possibly

amores used to have significantly better pizza than the avg hills. joint.

over the course of the past few years however, you cannot argue that it hasnt degraded. they used to give nice thick slices on the special, but the last few times i went before i left town it was the same 1/4" thick no sauce havin' barely cheesed junk as i love ny.

which is ultra dissapointing.

i have noticed that too but the pizza still tastes the best, might be less filling but i would rather have something that tastes good

too much cheese is bad for you anyway, not that pizza is good for you either

If you live off campus, try getting pizza from NY Pizza at Tryon and Cary Parkway. Don't think they will deliver to campus or nearby apartments, but it is MUCH better pizza that is a similar style to Amore's, I Love NY Pizza, etc.
