You must be dominant, and get them back into a calm, submissive state.

My family's dog knows that the only way she will get any attention from my 2 friends that walk with canes is if she is sitting. Even though she is always excited when they come over, she won't jump on them like she does with everyone else. Try having your reward for staying calm be attention from your niece and see where that gets you.

Here's an idea...

PUT THE GODDAMNED FUCKERS ON A LEASH!

It's not going to kill it to sit beside a tree for a couple of hours until your guests leave. No one likes a crazy ass dog all over them, and some people can't stand them at all. You go out of your way to keep your guests comfortable, entertained and well fed, yet you ignore this simple piece of common sense.

Really. One of my friends has a dog that does this shit. I'm like "okay, cool, nice to see you again too." After the first couple of minutes it gets old.

if they don't like my dogs, i don't want them over in the first place. Plus if someone's dog gets on me like that and i dont like it i'm not shy about kicking the bastard off, its not that hard.

Of course you kick it off, you're a grown man. We're talking about a kid here. Lose the dog or get rid of the kid. They don't mix.

My dog gets really excited about new people too. If I think about it. I will put her on a leash until she calms down. When your niece comes over tell her not to look at the dogs or talk to the dogs until they calm down. that should help too.

A little kid, which is what I'm going to assume his niece is, may not be able to just kick a dog off of them. She may be all about the dog, but if it knocks her over and hurts her, then what good does that do anyone?
Seriously, put it on a leash. Or put it in another room with its food and water and some toys.
