well he did all the work, so take labor out and apparently you can get those helicopter engines cheap (relatively) from gov't surplus

thats cool... i mean if i could get my hands on the motors i bet pops and i could do it.(dad knows a thing or two about jets since he's been in the biz about 50 years)

i wouldn't even want to think about tackling something like that. i'll stick with planning out my onboard air system that already has diagrams and shit on the internet
7/18/2006 4:21:24 PM
are you doing it with a york?... been there done that before. check http://www.thewolfweb.com/photo_folder.aspx?user=2558gallery for some ideas... he was my roomate.
7/18/2006 4:23:20 PM
yessir, i picked up a york yesterday fo 35 bux probably gonna get the alternator pulley from kilby and build the bracket myself, run lines, tank, etc. i'll take a look at that gallery also. http://www.kilbyenterprises has a ton of info, including a diagram of what your system should have. pretty sweet

we made step rail tanks with fittings and pressure gages
7/18/2006 4:26:46 PM
well i did this http://www.rockcrawler.com/techreports/tjkn/knse.aspso i have a lotta room there and can probably fit a tank where my old airbox was. i'm contemplating doing a 2 in motor mount lift, because you need at least a 1 for the york to clear the passenger fender. doing the 2 in mml will enable me to do a flat skid for the tranny/tcase and make me happy in the process

hahahha i cut up my roomates old honda cai and made a short ram for my cherokee.his rubbed a hole through it somewhere...that would be nice man...i've always wondered about thoses compressors that look like a V twin if they would work too... i'm almost positive they would cause they have the same crank case oiling system.[Edited on July 18, 2006 at 4:35 PM. how is the beetle not moving when he's got the afterburner goin??? i cant see stock brakes holding it in place with over 1200hp pushin.seems like even w. the car in park the tires would break traction.
7/18/2006 4:37:28 PM
shaft hp =/= thrust.jets need to be moving to make serious thrust.no matter how much fuel they squirt behind it...to veiw this in real time you need to see a jet dragster with 2-10 times the hp of a real one lose in the 1/4 mile to it, or watch any of the top gear car vs plane races the car always wins at the beginning because the tires can hold more force than the plane makes at low speed...but when the turbine gets moving... watch out.[Edited on July 18, 2006 at 4:44 PM.
