I have tried Neutrogena and Clinique's 3-step systems, and they don't work perfectly. If Proactiv works for Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Simpson, it must work for regular people like us, right? Who else has used it, and is it worth the money?

^^ actually no, but an hour or three of stage makeup works wonders.Seriously, havent used it, dont know anyone who has, you could try Biore? (I'm misspelling that horridly). It's in a green packaging now (the whole line of products). Worked really great for several friends in hs and not perfect for me but better than others.
7/18/2006 1:07:56 AM
This one girl I knew used it and it worked wonders
7/18/2006 1:08:46 AM
my little bro uses it and it helps him a lot.
7/18/2006 1:09:13 AM
I asked my aunt about it this weekend. She said it worked well for her for about a year, and keeps using it, because it still works...just not as dramatically.
7/18/2006 1:13:15 AM
I used it in high school. It works wonderfully. However, you have to keep up with the regimen religiously and if you slack off you'll get breakouts. I stopped using it in college and got breakouts like whoa.
7/18/2006 4:22:01 AM
Yep, my EX girl told me this too, its kinda like working out but rather its with your face so you tend to keep the the regimen.[Edited on July 18, 2006 at 4:34 AM. Reason : EX, not to be confused with top of the line honda model, she was certainly not this]
7/18/2006 4:23:57 AM
http://www.acne.org/Its better....and cheaper
7/18/2006 4:54:59 AM
You can get the knockoff of it at wal-mart for $20 for all three steps.
7/18/2006 7:04:46 AM
it will get worse at first and then better btw so don't worry, it takes a week or two. And you have to make sure you keep up with it. And dont mix products- make sure you use proactiv moisturizer--- I made the mistake of using the same stuff I had before neutrogena--what I had been used to and it was breakout city. Let your skin get used to proactiv and then use make-up again. I couldnt touch my face for at least 2 weeks.
7/18/2006 7:29:29 AM
The stuff works great. It makes your face feel really good, and will clear it up in about 2 weeks. Keep using it though, otherwise you'll break out again.I've tried the Walmart brand, and it doesn't work as well and it doesn't feel the same. I think a good part about proactiv is that it makes your face feel so good you don't forget to use it everyday. The walmart brand doesn't do that.
7/18/2006 9:40:23 AM
Didn't really pan out as well for me. it worked good but its like my face became immune to it and i went breakout city all over again. I'm going through the accutane cycle to try and end it once and for all.
7/18/2006 10:00:53 AM
Fuck proactive, man up and use accutane. The rest is for pussies.
7/18/2006 10:17:54 AM
My sister used it and it worked well. I live with a cousin that uses it and he's got clear skin.Shit isn't cheap though, so its a judgement call on whether or not its worth the money.
7/18/2006 10:22:25 AM
as already mentioned, there are quite a few knockoffs that are half the price. I'd recommend Klear Action - I tried both that and AcneFree, both of which are knockoffs, and KA is the better of the two (*much* better...as in it actually works). It's $20 at Target, WalMart, drugstores, etc., and that's for a 2 month supply.[Edited on July 18, 2006 at 10:23 AM. Reason : .]
7/18/2006 10:23:14 AM
You can get proactiv for $19.95 on TV, and it works better than knock offs. My sister uses it, swears by it, and she used to have really bad skin from acne, now she does a lot of modeling in nyc, and london, and honestly, you cannot tell she's ever had a pimple.

7/18/2006 10:41:25 AM
$20 seems reasonable for a whole month. I don't really have that much acne as it is blackheads. I've thought about Differin gel, but I have really sensitive skin and when I have used benzacline, clinique's 3 step system and the neutrogena one, it gets really dried out, and I have slightly oily skin.
7/18/2006 12:42:36 PM
One of my coworkers used Proactiv and it did wonders for her. She's like 28ish.
7/18/2006 12:44:06 PM
haha Lindsay "Don't talk to me like I'm a normal person!!" Lohan.Jesus. Yes it works. But only if you stick to it. The second you miss a day or night that shit will break out like whoa.
7/18/2006 12:47:51 PM
my sis got some for me for xmas.... here is the deal when you first start using it you will break out like a mofo but then it all goes away and for the most part stays away.
7/18/2006 12:59:18 PM
I'm so glad I never had acne problems, it sounds like a real son of a bitch

i think it really depends on how severe ur acne is. i used proactiv when i was in middle school and it cleared up most of my acne but didn't completely clear up the acne cuz it was a lil bit more severe. so i had to use acutane to fully clear up my acne but proactiv could work for you.
7/18/2006 3:25:21 PM
unless you have some grotesque acne on the other side of your face in that pic in your gallery, it doesnt look like you really need it

I've used Acne Free. It doesn't work and feels weird on your face. Proactiv works and feels great. It's worth the money. If you don't like it they give you your money back (minus the cost of shipping).
7/19/2006 10:17:02 AM
I've been using it for about two years, maybe longer. I never had acne problems until around the end of my junior year and senior year at state. It wasn't bad acne, just around my chin that would never completely go away no matter what I used. I had seen the commercials, etc, but didn't pay any attention to it then one day I decided to try it since they had a 60 day money back guarantee. I could tell a difference in my skin the first time I used it. My face and skin was a lot softer. I didn't get a breakout when I started on it. How long it lasts between reorders is up to you as well, I think mine gets shipped like every 13 weeks. I still get pimples every now and then, but it works well enough that 99% of the time I don't wear any makeup.[Edited on July 19, 2006 at 10:39 AM. Reason : .]

Be extreme...go with Accutane.JUST KIDDING! I will not recommend that shit to anyone-even if I hated them. That stuff can potentially ruin your life.
7/19/2006 11:57:03 AM
doesnt acne have a lot to do with ones diet?

Myth.greasy food may cause it if you touch your face after eating them..but not directly bc of the food's properties after digestion
7/19/2006 12:55:58 PM
It helps you learn not to wash your face too often- twice is all you need to do. If I wash more than once I will break out, I"ll only wash twice if I'm wearing makeup.
7/19/2006 1:02:49 PM
I've used it for about a year and a half and at first it worked great, I didn't usually wear makeup, but now, I dunno what happened but I'm breaking out really bad on the lower part of my face. I've been thinking about using this: http://www.acnecomplex.net/?roiid=7&cid=217736
