I have tried Neutrogena and Clinique's 3-step systems, and they don't work perfectly.

If Proactiv works for Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Simpson, it must work for regular people like us, right? Who else has used it, and is it worth the money?

^^ actually no, but an hour or three of stage makeup works wonders.
Seriously, havent used it, dont know anyone who has, you could try Biore? (I'm misspelling that horridly). It's in a green packaging now (the whole line of products). Worked really great for several friends in hs and not perfect for me but better than others.

I asked my aunt about it this weekend.

She said it worked well for her for about a year, and keeps using it, because it still works...just not as dramatically.

I used it in high school. It works wonderfully. However, you have to keep up with the regimen religiously and if you slack off you'll get breakouts. I stopped using it in college and got breakouts like whoa.

Yep, my EX girl told me this too, its kinda like working out but rather its with your face so you tend to keep the the regimen.

You can get the knockoff of it at wal-mart for $20 for all three steps.

it will get worse at first and then better btw so don't worry, it takes a week or two. And you have to make sure you keep up with it. And dont mix products- make sure you use proactiv moisturizer--- I made the mistake of using the same stuff I had before neutrogena--what I had been used to and it was breakout city. Let your skin get used to proactiv and then use make-up again. I couldnt touch my face for at least 2 weeks.

The stuff works great. It makes your face feel really good, and will clear it up in about 2 weeks. Keep using it though, otherwise you'll break out again.

I've tried the Walmart brand, and it doesn't work as well and it doesn't feel the same. I think a good part about proactiv is that it makes your face feel so good you don't forget to use it everyday. The walmart brand doesn't do that.

Didn't really pan out as well for me. it worked good but its like my face became immune to it and i went breakout city all over again. I'm going through the accutane cycle to try and end it once and for all.

My sister used it and it worked well. I live with a cousin that uses it and he's got clear skin.

Shit isn't cheap though, so its a judgement call on whether or not its worth the money.

as already mentioned, there are quite a few knockoffs that are half the price. I'd recommend Klear Action - I tried both that and AcneFree, both of which are knockoffs, and KA is the better of the two (*much* better...as in it actually works). It's $20 at Target, WalMart, drugstores, etc., and that's for a 2 month supply.

You can get proactiv for $19.95 on TV, and it works better than knock offs. My sister uses it, swears by it, and she used to have really bad skin from acne, now she does a lot of modeling in nyc, and london, and honestly, you cannot tell she's ever had a pimple.

$20 seems reasonable for a whole month. I don't really have that much acne as it is blackheads. I've thought about Differin gel, but I have really sensitive skin and when I have used benzacline, clinique's 3 step system and the neutrogena one, it gets really dried out, and I have slightly oily skin.

"Uplifting music has lied to me in the past, but I feel pretty good about this infomercial with Lindsay Lohan. Despite all evidence to the contrary, Lindsay apparently used to have problem skin. You can tell because in this program she was paid 2 million dollars to endorse, they show two pictures when she had a blemish once four years ago. It appears to be the same blemish, shown in pictures taken on concurrent days, but it's clearly gone now. My god, she's like a phoenix rising from the ashes! It's like I'm seeing a whole different person!"

"Lindsay Lohan will get paid 2 million dollars to become the new celebrity spokesman for Proactiv Solutions, the acne management line formerly endorsed by Jessica Simpson and Kelly Clarkson. In the infomercial which has already filmed, Lindsay says:

"My skin is clear all the time thanks to Proactiv. The best thing is that it's super gentle, so it works every day like skin care. That's how I use it, and it works."

Lindsay must be referring to some past life where she had real bad acne, because in this one she's been famous since she was 10, and she's had eleventy billion pictures taken since then, and at no point has anyone ever noticed Lindsay Lohan with acne. So at best this magic product makes perfectly normal skin even perfectly normaler, at worst it leaves you looking like a dalmation."

i think it really depends on how severe ur acne is. i used proactiv when i was in middle school and it cleared up most of my acne but didn't completely clear up the acne cuz it was a lil bit more severe. so i had to use acutane to fully clear up my acne but proactiv could work for you.

My doctor said there was one case where this happened (suicide), but I don't know if he's right. Anyway, like any drug, if something happens while someone is on it, it most often has to go in the warnings.

mainly myths probably... accutane is used as a scapegoat for a lot of psychological things... the fact of the matter is, most people take it in their early high school years which is a major developmental stage of their emotional lives.... maybe accutane magnifies it...

but either way, i took it and I wouldn't recommend it... makes you feel shitty from a physical standpoint, which in turn, makes you irritable... I also gained weight while I was taking it and stopped growing (it supposedly stunts your growth plates)...

but in the end... it cleared my face up perfectly and even got rid of all my scars... so I can't say if I went back that I wouldn't take it again...

I've used Acne Free. It doesn't work and feels weird on your face. Proactiv works and feels great. It's worth the money. If you don't like it they give you your money back (minus the cost of shipping).

I've been using it for about two years, maybe longer. I never had acne problems until around the end of my junior year and senior year at state. It wasn't bad acne, just around my chin that would never completely go away no matter what I used. I had seen the commercials, etc, but didn't pay any attention to it then one day I decided to try it since they had a 60 day money back guarantee. I could tell a difference in my skin the first time I used it. My face and skin was a lot softer. I didn't get a breakout when I started on it. How long it lasts between reorders is up to you as well, I think mine gets shipped like every 13 weeks. I still get pimples every now and then, but it works well enough that 99% of the time I don't wear any makeup.

Acne Free was the other knockoff that I tried, and I agree, it's terrible and doesn't work.

On the other hand, Klear Action does work just as well as Proactiv (at least on me), costs half as much, and you can find it in drug stores so you won't pay for s&h.

Misconceptions about causes

There are many misconceptions and rumors about what does and does not cause the condition:

* Diet. One flawed study purported that chocolate, french fries, potato chips and sugar, among others, affect acne. A recent review of scientific literature cannot affirm either way.

It helps you learn not to wash your face too often- twice is all you need to do. If I wash more than once I will break out, I"ll only wash twice if I'm wearing makeup.
