i'm having some trouble understanding the transition from the 1st block diagram to the 2nd. the way i have it worked out, i have a +G2 term in the numerator in the top box of the 2nd diagram but there is no G2 term shown. can anyone help?

c = (G2/(1-G2H2))r + 1rc/r = G2/(1-G2H2) + (1-G2H2)/(1-G2H2)c/r = ((G2 + 1 - G2H2)/(1-G2H2))*G1c/r = (G1G2 + G1 - G1G2H2)/(1-G2H2)now put the G1G2 terms togetherc/r = (G1 - G1G2(H2 +1))/(1-G2H2)

where did that "1r" term come from in ur 1st step?
7/15/2006 6:21:46 PM
you assume the positive feedback loop has a value of "1"so imagine a box with a "1" in it just like the boxes with variables in them on the top loop.i also just realized that should be a H2 - 1 term in the last equation, i accidently typed the wrong sign.[Edited on July 15, 2006 at 6:45 PM. Reason : wrong sign]

ok cool, thanks; i got it now. i had no idea about the assuming of 1 thing so that definitely helps a lot..it made this problem much easier to reduce.

Does anyone know if Dr. Ro's tests are open book and open notes. I know that I had him for 315 and they were but I didn't remember him mentioning it for this summer session. Please let me know if any of you guys know.thanks
7/15/2006 11:40:02 PM
they are open everythin
7/16/2006 12:00:46 AM
i don't know what any of this stuff means
7/16/2006 1:20:47 PM
Does anyone know what all topics will be covered on this first test that is tomorrow, or what type of problems you think he will give us?Thanks
7/16/2006 1:30:59 PM
basically:laplace transformsblock diagramscomplex impedancespretty much what is on the sample test is what will be on the test tomorrow; although the test does not have an impedance problem and he said to be sure to know that.
7/16/2006 1:36:37 PM
I am just not sure what type of impedance problems to study? Does anyone have any suggestions of what to look at?
7/16/2006 2:44:24 PM
i have no cluei have been looking at this stuff on and off the whole weekend
7/16/2006 8:31:38 PM
i did the bulk of my studyin yesterday. today has kinda just been a blah day. i looked at it for like 1.5 hours earlier and got sick of it.
7/16/2006 8:46:00 PM
i think the impedance is just so that when you have an electrial system everything can be reduced to v = i * z effective with some deriviative or integral of i so that you can take the laplace transform and find the transfer function
7/16/2006 9:38:33 PM
yea that's all impedance is really.

i dont think that the test was too bad, he could have made it much worsei finished in about an hour and just used the rest of the time to look over itim kind of worried though, because very few people finished earlyi always think that i missed something and didnt do it
7/17/2006 11:58:59 AM
i didnt think the test was too bad up until #3 with the 3 equations. i had a hard time figurin out how to do it. i still got an answer and everythin but it's most likely wrong. here's to hoping for lots of partial haha.
7/17/2006 3:02:33 PM
I know when I had Dr. Ro, he didn't give too much partial credit. I made a mistake at the beginning of one problem and he followed it all the way through Dr. Ro will help you at the end of the class....however, it is imperative that you go to class...your final grade will reflect that[Edited on July 17, 2006 at 6:14 PM. how'd u do in that class devin?
7/18/2006 8:58:14 AM
I wasn't able to go to class today. Did I miss anything important? Did he go over state-space representation?
7/18/2006 3:57:36 PM
I got a B and I think I made a 60 on both test
7/18/2006 5:39:40 PM
first test grade roll call:80 for me
7/19/2006 5:49:27 PM
anyone have an exact breakdown of what is on Test 2?
7/29/2006 4:40:36 PM
i think that he said that root locus was not going to be on the test
7/30/2006 6:31:08 PM
yeah, everything up to root locus is going to be on there...major topics are the state space representation, time response stuff, controller stuff and gain/root stuff
7/30/2006 7:58:22 PM
w00ti got an A
8/12/2006 1:35:34 AM
B+, i'm happy since i didnt study for the final
8/12/2006 6:55:29 PM
i was wondering if he gave out + and -
8/12/2006 6:57:56 PM
yea i was def told that he doesnt give +/-'s
8/12/2006 7:43:03 PM
So how did everyone end up on the final exam and in the class?
8/13/2006 3:26:02 AM
68 ... B+
