My father has a landscaping company and we buy pinestraw in pretty large amounts from this guy for between $4-5/bale and I know he gives us a deal since we've been customers with him for so long. So, I'd say 2.25 a bale isn't that great and would try to aim for more. At least check around with some others in the business and see what they charge. This is in eastern NC so I don't know if they prices are different elsewhere in the state.

So you'll have to rake up and collect all the pine straw on your own? It's gonna take a huge amount of time before you pay off the tractor and start making a profit, especially for $2.25 a bale.
