I havent been checkin sports talk for a while so this might have been posted before...but in general news...N.C. State's Chuck Amato needs an 8-4 finish to dodge criticism. The non-league schedule -- Akron, Appalachian State, East Carolina and Southern Miss -- is hardly imposing.-- Raleigh News & ObserverUniversity of Texas pitching coach Tom Holliday has accepted the position of associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at North Carolina State University.-- Austin American-Statesman

News & Observer was the paper that had an NC State insert for our games during the Gator Bowl season. They only talk shit when we're doing bad, but they get on the bandwagon when we're good, not like they never give us press.

I made a thread about Holliday coming here. It didn't get much replies. That is great news for our baseball team.Chuck I feel just has to win 6 games even with the bad schedule. They know he lost a lot early that he shouldn't have. A loss to UNC will hurt more than anything.

i use to work in the sports dept. at the N&O and you people blow this UNC stroking shit out of the water / more NCSU fans were working in there than UNC fans.We did have die hard FSU, Wake and WV fans working in there when i was there

If we finish 8-4 or better, not only has Amato dodged criticism, but he's gotten the monkey completely off his back and silenced all the haters. 8-4 would be overachieving, and 9-3 certainly would be.

I keep a lot of the good football pictures out of the N&O and there are about 5 times the amount of color pictures of NC State football than of Carolina... I know pictures arent everything, and the coverage and articles might mean more, but they cover us well in football

^^^How do you figure? The out-of-conference schedule is as weak as I have ever seen for a BCS conference team member. 4-0 should be a lock. So that means that going 4-4 in the ACC (which will be down this year just for the fact that the conference as a whole lost a ton of talent to the draft) is "monkey completely off his back and silenced all the haters"? That would be an ok season but State has to beat UNC this year for it to mean anything. Anything less than 7-5 and the AD should take a serious look at making changes.[Edited on July 11, 2006 at 10:14 AM. Reason : arrows]

With as critical as you all are of NC State athletics and how much you talk about UNC it wouldn't surprise me if every person at the N&O was a State grad.

how could you have thought this was thread worthy?
