he had said earlier that he would go wherever Huggins was coaching. Guess that was BS.

i've read that he had a lot of issues that might keep him from going to a college at all so this may not pan out for him

....or he wants to go play on a decent team in a good conference in a HUGE market where he can get plenty of publicitywe all know he'll only be in college for one season

Very smart decision. He is going to get press WHEREVER he goes so picking a school that is prominent but not too big in basketball is genius. Going somewhere like Duke, Kentucky, or UNC you play second fiddle to the prestige of the program... at USC you are the program.

If athelets cared about their game, they would go to schools that offer the best coaching, competition, and education. Picking a place where you will dominate is pretty dumb if you really cared about being at the top of your game. High level competition is one of the best coaches, IMO.

not to mention Arizona, California, and Washington. Man those guys are shitty.I heard Oregon State was the team to beat this coming season, with Arizona State a close second.

Arizona sure was a beast last year.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/basketball/2006-07-06-mayo_x.htmK-State????I can see UF and USC, but K-State?!?!?

^ because of Huggins man. This has been stated in many threads that he wanted to follow Bob Huggins wherever he goes. Obviously K-State has a crappy basketball program, but Huggins has already landed one top recruit for 07 and it Mayo signs there, then he'll likely end up with three 5-star recruits.I live in Kansas so I hear about K-State constantly.
