my other thread is too old to be brought back and i just wanted to see if anyone on here has one?i have tenative plans to trade in my car for the 07's when they come out, just cause i dont want the first year model of a new generation, but i have not yet had the pleasure to drive onethoughts? opinion? concerns?

my brother n law works at the Honda dealership in the Cary Autoparkthere's like a waiting list for the 06 civicsi like em
7/5/2006 3:43:51 PM
yeah i have heard 60 days for teh SI from Leith honda on capital blvdif i am going to wait that long i will wait to the 07's come out
7/5/2006 3:59:49 PM
I got the same waiting list story from Honda when I asked about it which I think is retarded. There's nothing particularly cool about the civic that would warrant waiting for it specifically. I think a Sedan Si is supposed to be coming out soon too.[Edited on July 5, 2006 at 4:02 PM. Reason : ..]

GTI > SI
7/5/2006 4:30:22 PM
I've never driven the new Si (fuckyouverymuch, honda) but I will say that the GTI felt very solid and composed.
7/5/2006 4:42:24 PM
GTI is defitely a comparable model to the SI but ihave heard many good things about teh SI over the GTI and the price take is a couple thousand less as far as i knowand i agree a waitlist for a honda is fucking gay, they are stifiling the supply on purpose, but WTF are you gonna do?
7/5/2006 4:53:36 PM
get on the waiting list?
7/5/2006 5:01:15 PM
GTI = more torque, more comfortable, but also has that hideous hatchback look and costs more
7/5/2006 5:01:39 PM
Buy an RSX-S.
7/5/2006 5:01:54 PM
yep
7/5/2006 5:04:37 PM
wont be making any more after the model 06dont really care for leather interior and far as i know rsx-s opnly comes with leather, dont not sure.... costs more too
7/5/2006 5:38:05 PM
ok driving on the street gti> si interior gti>sitrack time before throwing a chip on the gti thus unleashing a beast Gti<sitrack time after 400 bucks in mods to each car Gti>>>Siand i don't even own a VW
7/5/2006 7:20:14 PM
I know where you can get a good deal on an '03 RSX-S. But then again, I traded it because it decided to start grinding up connecting rod bearings. Nothing like checking your oil and finding parts of your engine in it.Also, no, the RSX-S does not come with anything other than leather. There is no cloth option.
7/5/2006 8:35:01 PM
i bought an 06 civic ex a couple weeks ago and i <3 it muuuucchhoo

7/5/2006 9:19:26 PM
Isn't the RSX-S basically a more expensive Civic Si? I think that's why Honda stops making RSX-S
7/5/2006 9:38:00 PM
a guy i work with just got his si in about 2 weeks ago.....we are going to the track sometime around the end of the month after he breaks it in. I've been seeing time slips of mid-low 14s with just basic bolt-on.......but there seems to be a wide range of times......don't really know what that's all about, maybe some kids just can't drive.i thought i heard somewhere that the 07 si was going to be a sedan modeland for who ever said they didn't want a first year model.....1) it's honda 2) the motor is not a first year motor
7/6/2006 12:48:45 AM
The Si will be available in sedan next year, but also in coupe.
7/6/2006 8:10:10 AM
07 will feature a sedan model SI in addition to the coupe
7/6/2006 8:13:54 AM
who's got the pic of hitler and the nazi's peering over a model GTI on a table? post please....
7/6/2006 9:36:07 AM
Any idea on price for this?(excuse me, i just double posted in my pants)

The K20 responds pretty nicely to modifications. I think I'd take the SI over a GTI.
7/6/2006 2:22:27 PM
ha, how much do you need to spend to equal a chipped GTI?
7/6/2006 2:47:12 PM
i didn't say it handled better but it would have about a 60 hp advantage after a chip
7/6/2006 2:51:37 PM
Well, not that it even matters but how much power/torque does a "chipped" GTI tend to make?My point was just that the K20 responds well to modifications and I'd rather have an SI. I think you're mistaking what I said for something along the lines of "The k20 is better for modifications."[Edited on July 6, 2006 at 3:00 PM. Reason : ]

i wouldnt bother with a VW they arent even int he same class as Honda in terms of reliability as stated before

Off Topic:My sister-in-law has a 06 Civic EX ... I drove it around this weekend while in Minnesota.I've never owned a Civic before, but the suspension on that thing is stiff as a rock. I could feel every bump in the road. I liked the unique gauge setup, but it's definately not a comfy cruising car (even my scoobie is more comfy).[Edited on July 6, 2006 at 3:08 PM. Reason : bumpy???]
7/6/2006 3:07:24 PM
is it just me or is the golf, rabbit, and gti all the same fucking car? (with minor variances)
7/6/2006 3:08:16 PM
golf = 4 door↑ you told me that one rabbit/gti... same shit[Edited on July 6, 2006 at 3:26 PM. Reason : .]
7/6/2006 3:14:42 PM
wrong. try google mr. vw know-it-all
7/6/2006 3:24:27 PM
why do the mk4 gtis have rabbits on them?btw i don't know shit about vws compared to you... i know... i don't care...[Edited on July 6, 2006 at 3:26 PM. Reason : .]

the rabbit hasn't technically been around for years, but it will be back as an econo model.anyway, i encourage anyone on the market to drive drive the GTI & Si back to back. a friend of mine was dead sold on an Si until i dragged him down the the VW dealership. Guess which car he bought?[Edited on July 6, 2006 at 9:09 PM. Reason : *]

Just to continue a thought from earlier:Stock for stock there is not much difference in acceleration between the two. I'd imagine the GTI costs at least $2000 more than the SI to begin with. With that $2000, plus the $400 you've alloted for the ecu upgrade I would say the SI will be very competitive with if not better than the chipped GTI.Also note that while the 0-60 times vary slightly stock for stock (6.6 vs. 6.3) the SI has to shift to 3rd before 60mph. In R&T's road test the SI actually starts to pull from the GTI past 100mph (0-110 in 20.7 seconds vs. 21.4) even though it was slower to 60 by 3 tenths. 220+whp is easily obtained with that k20, not to mention the SI has a 300lb weight advantage.[Edited on July 6, 2006 at 9:49 PM. you can magazine race all you want. raise your hand if you have driven both. anybody? beuller? beuller? beuller?hey look, my fucking hand is in the air.
7/7/2006 2:32:56 AM
the SI has a LSD right? the GTI doesnt as far as i know..thats perty important.. especially w/ a chipped torquey ass motor
7/7/2006 8:44:16 AM
its rumored the gti will be getting a bump to 230hp & electronic differential in the near future.
7/7/2006 9:04:35 AM
still a hatchback thank god they changed the Si back to a coupe...
7/7/2006 9:16:22 AM
^you aint kidding
7/7/2006 9:38:02 AM
I prefer hatchbacks to coupes. The Euro Civic-R hatch, for instance, rapes the living shit out of the Si coupe on all fronts: Style, performance, awesome factor.I also think that in comparison tests, the GTI's motor and chassis wasn't as crisp and responsive as the Si's. Now I haven't driven an Si, but I would venture a guess that while the VW had great low end grunt, the Si top end, lighter weight, and excellent transmission made it a more agile kat.VW needs to learn to shed weight from its vehicles.
7/7/2006 10:25:47 AM
the type R SI in europe is def a beast, but i cannot look at that thing, it is so ugly, it is worse than the 05 hatchbackbut i would def appriciate it if honda put a 220 horse motor in the American SI, why do we always get the shaft?

chipping a vw/audi sounds like some magical tech achievement but it's just upping boost and throwing more fuelI helped "chip" an SR20DET (omg!) and it went from 160whp to 240whp yay
7/7/2006 1:34:18 PM
good one
7/7/2006 2:28:19 PM
^^ & timing is key. where are you getting 120 hp? they make 200 at the wheels stock
7/7/2006 2:40:36 PM
The manufacturers posted HP is 200.I don't care to follow VWVortex or any other VW fan site enough to know what stock dyno numbers are for that new engine. I just assumed drivetrain loss.

2liter direct injection is a tank motor man just keep pumping more boost ini still can't find a compressor map for its turbo or even what the damned thing is.
