Hello all, Is anyone taking CH 201 with Dr. Warren this summer session? If so would you like to form a study group??

IF YOU ARE CUTE..HELL YEA!If not..we can just say hey to each other in class!

Just a note, if you have an opportunity, don't take CH201 with Warren. You probably won't do well unless you REALLY know your CH101. Lots of people will complain that he is a horrible professor. I really don't think a single summer session is long enough to get used to his teaching style.

i have warren, dont mind him so much, seems like a good professor, though i haven't faced one of his examinations yetI was wondering if anybody could help me out with this webassignA solution is prepared by dissolving 1.76g of an unknown nonelectrolyte in 16.00g of cyclohexane (tf = 6.6 degrees C and kf = 20.0 degrees C/m). What is the molar mass of the unknown compound if the solution has a freezing point of -4.3 degrees C.The way I went about it was to first find the osmotic pressure, and then I could figure out the molar mass from there. I figured that i = 1 because its a nonelectrolyte, R = 0.0821. I dont know what to plug in for the M or the T. I know you have to convert the T to Kelvins but I dont know which temp to use.Help would be greatly appreciated!

^I believe you are confusing what is a freezing point depression problem with an osmotic pressure one. You'll need the appropriate equation for describing the freezing point depression here and recognize in what quantity appears information regarding the nature of the solute.

(nevermind, I'm not gonna give you the answer right in front of the professor)but yeah, you're using an equation for osmotic pressure when you need to be looking at something else that deals with freezing points[Edited on July 13, 2006 at 5:37 PM. Reason : n]
