any one have any recommendation for a particular brand or modeli have a laptop and want to mess around with it and gps, use it for navigation in the carif i like the computer in the car, long term solution is a car pci would like the best accuracy under $100

Woot just had Microsoft's map program with a USB reciever the other day for $50Not sure if it worked well but it would have been a nice cheap option

I use the M$ one and it works fine. I've used it with a few different mapping programs and they are pretty much all about the same. They all will tell you to go the wrong way down one way streets and pick routes that waste a few hours time For $50 I'd pick it up. The receiver is good and locks on to the satellites fairly fast. They also sell a Pharos brand bluetooth docking station if you ever decide you want to go bluetooth instead of USB or if you want to hook it up to a PDA/Phone that supports it.

be carefull if the car rides rough... or in my case truck. If your going to use it a lot get a stand with lots of shock absorption or you can kiss the laptop bye bye. toughbook would be nice somedays

I use Delorme software and their Earthmate usb gps receiver (LT-20). works great. I bought both bundled together for less than $100.
