So, what are they? Suppose, theoretically, someone had a load of SC fireworks they want to set off (in Cary) . . . . what are the laws pertaining to this? What can the cops do? Give you a ticket, a fine? If, for example, the creepy Indian neighbors who stand on their porch all day and stare at your house were to do something like call the cops because they see fireworks . . . . . what would happen?

Tried looking on Cary's website, but couldn't find much other than them saying that even sparklers are horrible and dangerous and should be left to professionals (gotta love Cary).

^ Yeah, but we all know what "up to" means in legalspeak. What's the worst they'd actually do for something like shooting off bottle rockets in your backyard.

it all depends on how much you shoot off, and who calls the cops on you. if your "creepy Indian neighbors" tell the cops you're aiming at their house, you're screwed.

in my experience, in charlotte at least, the cops will come but if they don't actually see you shooting em off (if you're done before they get there) they won't bother stopping their cruiser. my parents used to call them on my neighbors when i was a kid, but i don't remember anyone ever getting into trouble.

Dude, I know which ones are and aren't legal. What I'm asking is what actually happens if you set off the illegal ones and by some chance the cops are called in.

I would wager either nothing (or a verbal warning) if they don't see you setting them off or see them laying around.

basically dont get caught red-handed

True story: When i was little, the cops showed up, and then gave my dad a lighter and watched us set off bottle rockets.

basicly dont be stupid, if they ask you to stop, then stop.

another True story (this one has nothing to do with your question): when i was a kid a friend and I were shooting bottle rockets off my back roof. This guy from around the neighborhood came walking up out of the woods and up a dirt road behind my house. So we decide to shoot some bottle rockets at him. Shit lands right in his hair (it's curly and dirty so it stuck right in place) and blows up. Dude was so fucked up on PCP he didn't even notice, just kept walking.

Maybe bottle rockets were legal back then? They do tend to tighten the bolts on firework fun as they years go by.

Fireworks laws are not in effect this time of year. Just do what you want.

My family had friends how were cops. They'd bring us all the fireworks the confiscated from idiot tourists. It's been my experence that cops aren't going to respond to a fireworks call unless something (e.g. your neighbors house) is on fire.
