at some movie I went to the trailer had everyone confused cuz the trailer was basically 5 minutes of the movie, no indication that it was a preview until the very end.weird[Edited on July 1, 2006 at 6:30 PM. Reason : fdsa]

If some chick makes me take her to see it, that will be the only way I will see it

They left a lot of subplots out of the book. Like Lilly being an alcoholic and getting into a car accident. Was overall pretty decent, B/B+. Good job on Streep's part, wonderful clothes, complete and total lack of character development on Hathaway's part as well as too much pale flesh paire wit wolfpack red lipstick.

okay so i saw it and enjoyed it. They changed around some aspects of the main plotline too, but the changes were okay. Meryl Streep was awesome in this character. I was worried because they made her character sound younger in the book, but she pulled it off.

ive heard it was very NYC -ZiP!-

saw it with the gf and several other females... even from a war/action movie buff, it wasn't that bad... the whole "i slept with someone else but i realized i want you back" and the guy says..."Okay" ending was pretty gay though IMO

I saw it, haven't read the book. I think the movie was pretty good! And I usually don't like chick flicks
7/3/2006 1:01:49 PM
I saw it with the parents, it wasn't too bad.
7/3/2006 2:29:21 PM
I'm seeing it tomorrow with family I'm excited because Patricia Fields helped with the wardrobe
7/3/2006 2:33:31 PM
saw it with my GF... it was fairly enjoyable although I also agree that the getting back together with the boyfriend thing was pretty weak, although she never told him and it didn't show what happened from there expecially considering his job was in boston and hers was in NY at the end...Cars/Click I liked better.the Breakup and Nacho Libre I liked less

I went and saw it last night. It was enjoyable but something of a dissapointment, i'd give it a B+.The actors play their parts VERY well, the costuming is great, and the film itself was shot and directed well, or so I felt. The plot however...felt... lacking.I realize it's a movie about the fashion industry and all it's superficialities, but I felt like the plot itself wound up being superficial, no real substance or depth to any of the characters. The characters all seem ... flat. They're predictable. SPOILER WARNINGI felt like the whole thing was building up for Andy to tell MP (dragon lady, i forgot her name), to go fuck off, and give some depth and some backbone to Andy. Instead, she just walks away, and gets a job with MP's recommendation to support her. The boyfriend just happily takes her back, Andy is fine to going back to who she was before, and life continues as it more or less was for everyone at Runway, with ..no real changes in any character. In the end, i felt like there was no point, although it was a good couple hours of entertainment.

I really really liked it, and so did my husband, who 1) Doesn't like Meryl Streep (but thought this was his favorite role of hers) and 2) Only went to take me to it. Anne Hathaway has been one of my favorites since The Princess Diaries, and Havoc didn't destroy that fanhood.

I saw the movie, it was pretty good.I thought Hathaway was beautiful. Pale porcelain skin and red lips is nothing new. Think Greta Garbo and Marilyn Monroe.
7/5/2006 10:51:15 AM
^^^ haven't seen the movie... but personally i think red lips look BEST on pale girls ala Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Nicole Kidman...[Edited on July 5, 2006 at 5:01 PM. Reason : ^ yup... red lips and pale skin are in, hence that's probably why they chose that]

I agree with casnuts. You should look up classic hollywood actresses, they weren't too terribly tan.
7/5/2006 5:04:10 PM
I know it's an old deal. I just don't like it.
7/5/2006 11:01:15 PM
It's a fashion thing I suppose (the bright red lipstick).
7/5/2006 11:03:06 PM
Husband and I just saw it and liked it. I really liked Meryl Streep. This time last week I was in NY. It was like seeing my whole vacation on a movie screen, minus a couple hundred trips on the subway...and Williamsburg.
7/6/2006 4:47:32 AM
i'm a heterosexual male and i thought this was a great movie.
7/8/2006 12:18:52 AM
i read the book last year, loved it. need to see the movie asap. meryl streep looks wonderful in it, and so does that british girl, forgot her name. and i agree with miska about patricia fields doing wardrobe. <3 ]
7/8/2006 3:06:25 AM
overly tan people scare me. especially in the middle of winter.
7/8/2006 4:48:50 AM
I read the book, and I think thats going to bug me when I see it. Little stuff thats important- does Anne Hathaway smoke in the movie? Does MS wear a white scarf? Oh, and in the book she actually does say "Fuck you." And then goes home.
7/8/2006 11:01:48 AM
Yeah, the movie ended differently, which kinda irked me. They didn't really mention the hermes scarf, there was a scene that involved some, but no explanation as to why it's important.Go for the costumes, not the plot

goFigure brought this up and it was bothering me: If her boyfriend is moving to boston then why is she still wanting this job in nyc?
7/8/2006 10:06:19 PM
So I finally saw this Saturday with a friend. From reading the book and seeing the movie, the movie doesn't live up. (I JUST realized the scarf scene referred to her Hermes scarf. I thought they had missed it all together.)But, for me, the movie was good as a stand-alone movie. The clothes were just amazing, I tell you. And the shoes (omg intro scene). Stanley Tucci was great, imo, and I think Streep embodied the character really well. I've never really seen many movies with Anne Hathaway in them, but I like her as well. I don't get the bf moving to Boston/her getting a job in NYC thing as well.
