Who's starting on our bball team next year? I can barely name 5 returning players.
6/28/2006 9:11:57 PM
I'd say Gavin, Fells, McCauley, and Costner are locks
6/28/2006 9:14:31 PM
Atsur by default
6/28/2006 9:15:13 PM
C-Brackman-McCauley-LewandowskiPF-Costner-Horner*SF-Grant*-NiemanSG-Courtney Fells*-Ferguson*-McCoyPG-Atsur-Albritton*denotes players that more than likely will play a combo of positions (i.e. PG/SG, SG/SF, SF/PF, PF/C)
6/28/2006 9:16:04 PM
Yes, he is a lock, but if he weren't a senior, I don't know, but yes, by default
6/28/2006 9:16:09 PM
Atsur, Brackman (if he comes back), Fells, Costner, and Gavinwe are going to be a sleeper
6/28/2006 9:16:11 PM
Brackman has already stated that he will return.
6/28/2006 9:16:53 PM
i hope costner breaks outi really like that kid
6/28/2006 9:18:15 PM
maybe lowe can play
6/28/2006 9:20:22 PM
albritton will not play. furgeson will play before albritton does. didn't we get another black player with the 7 foot toothpick?[Edited on June 28, 2006 at 9:34 PM. Reason : sdfsdf]
6/28/2006 9:33:37 PM
^i'm guessing you're referring to the Iowa State transfer Degand? he has to sit for a year, but i think he was granted another redshirt year, so he can still have the ability play 4 years for us. i know albritton won't play unless we're blowing a team out in the last few minutes, i just composed a list of all the players at each position, with the ones most likely to start at the top of each category. the * denoted players that can and will play more than one position. Atsur will be the most primary ball handler with Grant, Fells, and Ferguson to follow.
6/28/2006 9:45:02 PM
the starting five is still very strong, its the lack of depth after losing davis & werner that concerns me.This would have been a good season to have Herb since he never had any clue how to utilize depth anyway.
6/28/2006 9:58:49 PM
The day Albritton plays more than mop-up "We're up/down by 30" time is the day I give up on NC State sports
6/28/2006 10:00:41 PM
How is McCauley a lock to start?Id say:C) BrackmanPF) Costner (Melvin clone)SF) GrantSG) FellsPG) AtsurThen Ben, Horner, and Ferguson are the only subs who play any this year.
6/28/2006 10:10:34 PM
I want to see fells and grant run the best circles man could ever run at the wings. That strategy is unguardable.
6/28/2006 10:14:59 PM
Boozie, I locked in McCauley because I thought B-Rack would concentrate on upping his baseball stock
6/28/2006 10:16:45 PM
^If that is the case, yes Ben starts.Andrew said he is coming back.Ben will still play a lot and I really like him as a player.
6/28/2006 10:21:19 PM
I heard on 850 the buzz the other day that Degand is appealing the NCAA to let him play this year. He is saying that he left Iowa State when it was a program that was believed to be facing NCAA sanctions and apparently there is a rule that lets you not miss a year if that is the case. The guy on the radio said it was prob. a long shot but you never know.
6/28/2006 10:44:46 PM
that'd be great if he could get it. we need more depth.
6/28/2006 11:12:10 PM
remmeber when i said all along brackman would play and everyone acted like i was retarded?i still have no idea why people thought he wouldnt continue playing basketball....
6/28/2006 11:16:26 PM
Costner is not a Marcus Melvin clone....he's much better at this stage of the game.
6/29/2006 12:23:37 AM
^big words about a guy who hasn't done dick
6/29/2006 12:25:00 AM
5-Brackman4-Costner3/2-Grant2/3-Fells1-AtsurMcCauley first off the bench followed by Horner, 7'2", and Ferguson once he's eligible. Our top 6 will be very competitive, but after that, I'm not real sure... we are really going to need Horner and Ferguson to be ready to play. Fells is going to be a flat out stud in this new offense.
6/29/2006 12:30:04 AM
If he has worked on his game
6/29/2006 12:51:04 AM
We need a speedy little negro to run the point in order to utilize the athleticism we have on the wings. It would be nice to see a fast break or 2 this year. But yeah, we could surprise some people.[Edited on June 29, 2006 at 12:56 AM. Reason : 2]
6/29/2006 12:56:06 AM
^^^^based on hype alone, I'll tell you that he's better than Melvin at this stage. I'm considering Melvin after his first 4 games as well....Costner is better right now.[Edited on June 29, 2006 at 12:58 AM. Reason : ]
6/29/2006 12:58:34 AM
in the same sense that ... the clap surprises people
6/29/2006 12:58:59 AM
^no...the clap actually surprised peoplewe wont
6/29/2006 12:59:55 AM
brackman, brackman, brackman, brackman and brackman.
6/29/2006 4:00:17 AM
^
6/29/2006 7:57:54 AM
as much as I'd love to see Brackman still playing basketball next year, I just don't see it happening
6/29/2006 8:17:57 AM
just goes to you show you that an alleged NCSU fan thinks i was being fucking serious ncsu basketball 'fans' rule
6/29/2006 8:26:02 AM
I just hope grant has learned how to not commit an offensive foul every time he touches the balland that brackman has learned how to take the ball strong to the hole more than once a gameand that fells can do more than run really fast and jump really high
6/29/2006 8:30:55 AM
yea ok lets keep pretending that brackman wasnt a one man disaster for 80% of his play time (last year)[Edited on June 29, 2006 at 8:33 AM. Reason : 4243]
6/29/2006 8:33:04 AM
^were you talking to me about alleged ncsu fan?
6/29/2006 8:41:35 AM
6/29/2006 8:41:51 AM
larry davis and dan werner said they would be playing here next year too
6/29/2006 8:43:56 AM
6/29/2006 9:07:30 AM
6/29/2006 9:17:16 AM
6/29/2006 9:40:36 AM
HahaWhat did Brackman have last year beside faults
6/29/2006 9:42:40 AM
6/29/2006 9:59:05 AM
If Andrew doesn't play basketball Ben will be our only post player and Lowe will have to play the 7'2" guy which Im sure isn't worth a shit right now.
6/29/2006 10:00:30 AM
am i the only one that thinks McCauley should never play....
6/29/2006 10:16:08 AM
6/29/2006 10:46:04 AM
not to mention he is a big that can hit the 3
6/29/2006 10:52:06 AM
6/29/2006 12:54:33 PM
sounds just like all the "alleged ncsu fans" that you were talking about
6/29/2006 1:59:31 PM
I like our top 6. They won't be amazing, but they'll win some games and be fun to watch. I do wish we had a faster guard than Atsur, but we're lucky to have some experience at the point that won't turn the ball over. I know you guys seem to hate on the kid, but he'll be the leader of the team this year and a big part of the offense.Depth is an obvious problem. The inside game will suffer offensively, but hey, we haven't had a good post option and used it since Powell left. My starters:Costner, Grant, Atsur, Fells, Brackman. Three have experience starting in the ACC, Fells played limited but valuable minutes, and Costner has a year under him in practice. No starting freshman, which is a plus.
6/29/2006 2:24:49 PM
i believe in support all players who have a positive impact on our team.....even if its only marginally positive, ill support said playerbut brackman fouled more then he scored. his net impact was negative last year.
