I have an apartment and I'm working from 8:30 to 7 most days. I always wanted birds when I was younger, but kinda forgot about it...now I'm thinking maybe it's not such a bad idea.

Someone educate me, please

With that schedule, no. Birds need a lot of attention. You can get away with giving it less but it's not fair to the bird.

Not fair to the bird nothing, that bird will become unbearable if it is not mentally stimulated for several hours everyday. Regardless of bird species, they all require lots of attention, talking to, and out of the cage time. If not, they become hellish to be around. They'll destroy your shit if they can get to it, learn to nip you, throw their toys and feed all over creation, or just sqwak until your head explodes. If you have limited time, get a fish tank or a reptile or something.

Hm, didn't know they needed that much attention...

In that case, I'm either going back to the original plan of getting two cats so they can entertain eachother or get some nocturnal animal that fits more with my schedule
