It hasn't helped me, though, that could be because I don't actually take it. YMMV

it takes weeks to take effect

I didn't like it. After taking it my blood pressure would go up to 170/110, made my heart race for a couple of hours, and I'm pretty sure my body temperature would have been higher than normal if I had a chance to check it. Also made me lose the ability to bwn more than once a week. After about 2.5-3 weeks I just gave up on it. Wasn't worth waiting for the side effects to go away and also that stuff would have cost me $50 a month after my insurance.

It is expensive - I'm on 80mg and it costs $60/month with my insurance.I've been on it since November. Really noticeable effects didn't kick in for about a month, except for side effects. http://www.crazymeds.org can tell you A LOT about it, and I've found it pretty helpful.I've done really well with Strattera. It's not a cure-all by any means, as none of the drugs are, but it's definitely helped with:1) Alertness - I can actually get up in the morning at a decent time, and won't sleep through class and work. However, downside is that a lot of the time I'll get up extra early just because of the alert factor.2) Motivation - increased. I became really into getting my schoolwork done, and stopped procrastinating unless work or something interfered with my getting it done sooner.3) Happier - I stopped getting into mood swings and getting irritated at stupid stuff with my husband. Prior to taking this I was getting into fights and yelling at him for nothing. I'm kind of doubting that's b/c of ADD but if Strattera helped with that too, it's great for me.4) Paying attention - as I said prior to my husband and I were having trouble. Part of my problems was the inability to pay attention to when he was talking, and I'd zone out and start thinking of other things. This made him frustrated with me. Now I actually am interested in what he has to say.Downsides:1) The side effects - Most frequent is the cottonmouth, but you get used to that after a little while. When I was adjusting to it I got racing heartrate and would wake up in the middle of the night sweating. I had never been on a drug before so I really had a lot of adjusting to do. I believe there were a couple headaches as well.2) Over-achievement - At one point during last semester I became an over-achiever and was getting really really stressed out about simple stuff and due dates. It was really ridiculous, and lasted for about two weeks until my husband was able to calm me down.3) If miss a dose - Most of the time if I miss a dose, the next morning I'm very groggy and just want to sleep. Sometimes it's not too bad, and a friend of mine that's been on it for about three yrs said she missed it for like three days and wasn't feeling too terrible. However, one time I missed it for 3-4 days and I felt kind of buzzing, loopy, but on the other hand kind of how you feel if you haven't had enough sleep for a while.
