6 of us are going up to WashDC for the weekend in 2 weeks and we're lookin a place to stay. We booked a place last night but aren't too sure of it's location (type of neighborhood, etc). We're going up for the Nationals-Padres series July 7-9.Any ideas of a good hotel up there in a decent area?

I'm going next week. Found a decent rate in College Park. What's your budget like?

By "decent area" do you mean low crime or do you want to be close to stuff.
6/25/2006 10:59:50 AM
we'd like to be pretty close to RFK, where the Nat's play. We're looking for hotel rooms around $100 a night or a little lower (we're going to get 3 rooms). That's the problem, our budget isn't real flexible.i've heard a lot of horror stories about the DC area/suburbs and we're not really trying to get mixed up on the wrong side of town.

$100 per room, right? Also, the DC metro site now has an overlay with google maps. It makes checking on where you plan to stay sooooooooo much easier. You can also post the addresses of the hotels you're considering, and folks will give feedback. panthersny lives up there, and UJustWait84 is from there, although everything he tells you will have praise of San Diego. I forget who else is up that way.

I stayed at hilton right by many embassies (DuPoint Circle). The room was decent and not expensive. Well, Dupont Circle is like a small version of castro street though.

yea $100 a room. we found a best western up there for $70 a night. but not sure about the type of area it's in.thanks

Don't stay in Southeast/Anacostia or PG County and you'll be fine--you don't want to be right at RFK, but Capital Hill neighborhood is nice and walkable if you find anything (but I don't think you'll find a hotel there, at least in your price range).Best Western Key Bridge is in Arlington a block from the Rosslyn Metro, $69 or so on hotels.com. That's on the Orange line, which you can take straight to RFK (and to other stuff). State Plaza Hotel looks like a decent option.I'd look at Downtown DC (West of Capital, close to or North of Constitution) or Arlington. Otherwise you'll be stuck away from everything, in a dump, or a seedy area.[Edited on June 25, 2006 at 11:15 AM. Reason : .]

Rosslyn is a pretty good area. You are right next to a metro stop (orange and blue line), and right across the bridge from Georgetown. Downtown would also be a good option, but would cost a bit more money and wouldn't be much more convenient, since I assume you'll be getting around via metro anyway).FYI: Metro stops running at 3 AM Friday and Saturday nights, but the last train goes by different stops a little bit before that. It is an easy cab ride from anywhere if you get stranded, though.[Edited on June 25, 2006 at 11:21 AM. Reason : .]

downtown arlington is the place to stay. its right across the patomic near everything (even a subway) and is alot cheaper than the hotels in dc. its around 100 vs being around 300 in downtown. (at peak times.) also just look on expedia there are some diamond in the ruffs in downtown dc. i stayed at hilton garden for like 117 during the acc tourney.
6/25/2006 11:50:44 AM
yeah I always stay in Rosslyn/Arlington or Alexandria and ride the metro in.
6/25/2006 11:51:00 AM
I usually bid hotel on priceline by selecting 3 stars/arlington. Most of the time i got hyatt or hilton close to DCA (crystal city). The price is about <$60 /night, but parking is extra $15-$20 / night. [Edited on June 25, 2006 at 1:01 PM. Reason : rossyln is good too]

Haha, yeah stay downtown and take the Metro. You don't want to stay out near RFK. I stayed in the Embassy Suites, once in Arlington and once in downtown D.C. but there are TONS of other less expensive hotels.Subway is the way to go to RFK..

I agree with the Best Western Key Bridge.

^^TWW is occasionally useful.

thanks for the help again. we cancelled our previous reservations and booked a few rooms at the best western key bridge. we're not looking for anything fancy, just a good place to pass out with easy access to the metro.
6/26/2006 12:13:11 PM
