6/23/2006 3:48:18 PM
I've never seen it. But it looks cool so I ordered it since the deepdiscountdvd had 20% off.
6/23/2006 3:50:02 PM
Did you get the regular DVD or the Criterion? Because that shit has some fancy-ass artwork inserts.
6/23/2006 3:52:06 PM
just the regular. I didn't want to pay high dollar for a cool edition of a money I'm not even sure I'll like.
6/23/2006 3:53:32 PM
hopefully you'll like it, it's not over the top ridiculous humor like anchorman, or 40 year old virgin. it's very cleverly crafted and subtle. it has some instant laughs, but it takes the time to really develop the characters throughout the movie. each time you watch it, you'll pick up on some new things. sure it gives a nod to harold and maude, but it's not the same movie at all.
6/23/2006 3:54:00 PM
I wrote and directed a hit play. What did you ever do?
6/23/2006 3:56:40 PM
^^see that's why I think I like itI thought anchorman was fucking stupid, I want something a little more sophisticated.
6/23/2006 3:58:26 PM

Wes Anderson is a men among boys. They should teach a class about his movies at NCSU. Others who need classes:Richard LinklaterJohn WooAng LeeMartin ScorceseRobert Altman and Stanley Kubrick as a stand alone, 4-hour course!
6/24/2006 4:37:58 PM
has Wes Anderson ever made a movie that wasn't centered around father-figure issues?i've never seen bottle rocket, so maybe that one doesn't
6/24/2006 5:10:56 PM
there's definitely some father-figure stuff in bottle rocket.
6/24/2006 5:12:28 PM
I wish my dad were more like Future Man.
6/24/2006 5:25:27 PM
Royal Tenenbaums FTW
6/24/2006 5:30:51 PM
I never found this movie funny. *shrugs*
6/24/2006 5:35:28 PM
who in the fuck under 30 gives a fuck, let along has even seen, Harold and Maude?
6/24/2006 6:13:23 PM
you know... cause he looks like he's from the future
6/24/2006 6:19:56 PM
6/24/2006 6:24:16 PM
i'm sure it is & i've seen many classics myself but can't you see i'm trying to pick on scrumples here?
6/24/2006 6:27:06 PM
i've only seen the Royal Tenenbaums & remember liking it - who is scrumples talking to anyways? wes anderson isn't on my list of the best young directors. he's not awful though.Notable young directors (no 50yr. olds)-Paul Thomas Anderson-Aronofsky-Spike Jonez-Sophia Coppola-Brian Singer (he went off on a tangent though lately w/ movies that do not interest me at all)-Harmony Korine (i'm not sure what he's been up to lately but he's talented imo)-Matt Gronke haha *i'm sure i'm missing some
6/24/2006 6:42:58 PM
yeah, he's not awful alright
6/24/2006 7:46:40 PM
I would put the top young directors (off the top of my head) as follows, in this order:Matt Gronke (the man's a genius)Wes AndersonSofia CoppolaMichel GondryAlejandro Iñárritu (really looking forward to Babel)PT AndersonDarren Aronofsky (not a lot to work with, yet, but I'm really looking forward to The Fountain)Oh, and I don't know if Shane Carruth is going to make a movie ever again, but if he does I'll be excited.[Edited on June 24, 2006 at 8:24 PM. Reason : ]
6/24/2006 8:11:20 PM
I prefer Gronke's early stuff, including John Modest Stomps Student, to his later work.
6/25/2006 1:51:28 AM
I don't know if you've seen any of the postgronkean school of films from Denmark and Sweden, but they WILL blow your mind.
