Why not just run mplayer2.exe if you like the classic minimal look?

or download MPlayer, which looks a lot like the original Windows Media Player, but includes all modern codexs, plays DVDs (from disc or disc image) and other nice options http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html

well, I am able to play DivX files and DVDs and other installed codecs directly from mplayer2.Installing another media player that looks like the original doesn't make sense.to me at least

I used to be a huge wmplayer fan, but it uses about 20% resources to play the same files (x264) so I switched

VLC media player for the win. Nothing better out there. WMP has issues with some files even with the correct codecs where it loads the file differently sometimes causing lag in short video clips.

^I agree. Everything plays in the VLC. VLC > WMP
