So my dishwasher has water standing in the bottom. Also my oven takes forever to cook anything and the door ice dispenser on my fridge dont work right.

dishwasher probably doesn't have a food grinder and you put plates in w/ too much crap on them. You have to clean it out by hand. This is disgusting, but it's self correcting.

bad float switch, bad element/thermostat, bad technique
6/21/2006 7:36:08 PM
thx plz how 2 fix
6/21/2006 8:22:36 PM
my dish washer takes for ever to cook (steam) my food and my oven always breaks my dishes before the cleaning cycle is done
6/21/2006 8:24:04 PM
^^ what make/model goddamn, you sound like a woman calling the shop asking how much to fix a weird sound on her car
6/21/2006 9:09:39 PM
i cant seem to figure that out lol

My dishwasher is a mustard yellow lazy whore. I used it one time since I bought the house and then the next time I went to use it all the water dumped out on the floor because it rusted all the way through the bottom.I have a new one to install, but someone soldered the damn water pipe onto it instead of just threading it on and using some thread sealer. Now I need to buy a torch to melt that shit.I also have a beautiful mustard yellow sink and oven to match. The colors really complement my orange formica counters and orange wallpaper. If you need one, they had a pretty sweet black dishwasher for $35 at the Cause For Paws thrift store on Crabtree Blvd.[Edited on June 21, 2006 at 9:40 PM. how much water is standing in the bottom? a little is normal.buy a cheap oven thermometer and put it in there to check that your temp is correct.what is the ice maker actually doing?
6/22/2006 6:54:29 AM
^^ you could probably just use a cutoff wheel to cut the pipe couldn't you? i have one you could use if needed.
6/22/2006 10:07:21 AM
OVEN:check or proper temp by using an oven thermometer.Could be either thermostat or the heating element.
6/22/2006 10:39:03 AM
^^ Could use a cutoff wheel, but then I'd have to solder another threaded connection onto the pipe to connect to the dishwasher; so I'd need the torch anyway. This house is going to kill me. I did finish painting three wood panel walls yesterday though. Looks almost like beadboard now.

who the fuck puts in a dishwasher with rigid copper?
6/22/2006 3:08:26 PM
There's a lot of stuff in with rigid copper. But in retrospect, a dishwasher done this way is ODD.Granted, they used to be a lot heavier and more permanent than they are now.I swapped out my water heater lately...it was installed using copper.
6/22/2006 3:19:28 PM
^ thats normal, but a dishwasher put in with rigid would be as retarded as an icemaker or something. most of the time flexible copper was used with compression fittings to the sink valve, or now braided flex hose is the norm
6/22/2006 3:22:57 PM
I agree that it's retarded to use rigid copper, but it's just what I'm dealing with. I might just rip out the copper and replace it all with a flexi line to the hot water tap for the sink instead of de-soldering this connection and hooking it back up that way. Hell, I don't know if the water connection on the new dishwasher is in the same spot as the old one.
6/22/2006 4:03:35 PM
just cut it off with a tubing cuttter under the sink and use a compression union, no soldering required
6/22/2006 10:55:49 PM
Alright, dishwasher is in. Left the rigid copper for the water hookup, but got rid of it for the rigid copper for the drain pipe. I just cut off the threaded connection to the dishwasher and used a new one with a compression fitting to the connect the copper to the dishwasher.Next project: Gable vent fan.[Edited on June 25, 2006 at 8:28 PM. ^ get a quiet one, that thing will annoy the shit out of you when you're trying to sleep, and if you get a cheap one, you'll probably be replacing it again by the end of the summer, believe me i know
6/27/2006 10:22:51 AM
Already bought the $53 fan from Home Depot. It was the right size for the square footage of my attic. The more expensive ones were just for bigger attics and I didn't see any that claimed to be quiet. Is there a specific one you would recommend?
6/27/2006 10:35:19 AM
as far as the consumer grade ones go, the whisper cool ones are decent, but i would stay the hell away from those master flow ones, i replaced one three times in a summer, and never was able to get a refund from the manufacturer, just replacements, had to buy a different, i'm glad it wasnt my house, you get what you pay for i guess, i told them from the start that it would probably never hold up, but they wanted to go cheap, and ended up paying me to install it 4 times
6/27/2006 10:46:54 AM
Yeah, I bought a Master Flow one. I guess I might return it. Where can I get the Whisper Quiet brand around here?[Edited on June 27, 2006 at 11:37 AM. Reason : s]
6/27/2006 11:36:36 AM
lowes has them i think, make sure you get the galvanized one
6/27/2006 12:05:07 PM
i got a new washer and dryer today. good shit
6/27/2006 6:52:08 PM
^ that shits gonna fall through the floor
6/28/2006 8:41:22 AM
