I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 2004 Overland model, and the clear plastic cover over the headlights is not so clear anymore. I don't know what's causing it, but it looks like it's getting pretty dirty (kinda cloudy) on both the inside and the outside.

Is there any safe way to clean it or how do I even get the cover off to where I could scrub it with a brush/sponge or something?

meguiars makes some clear plastic cleaner and polish. or you can just try some paint cleaner. pretty much the same thing.

plastic cleaner is a little different but yeah either should help. you might google polishing polycarbonate headlamps also

get some 2000 grid sandpaper.
spray headlights with soapy water
and sand it with little pressure

apply polish

DONE!

use the CLR stuff on the inside. you should be able to get it at lowes or another hardware store.

yeah I have the 04 special edition and my lights are starting to look kinda cloudy too. When I was looking at buying a used 01 or 02 grand cherokee a lot of the ones I saw (probably the majority) had 1 light or both headlights that had become extremely cloudy - so its a common problem. someone told me that it was moisture getting inside the sealed headlamp, but no idea if that is true. Has anyone got any other ideas for cleaning?

Mine were really bad
I used 1000 grit first (wet)
the the 2000 grit (wet)
then Novus #2 plastic polish.
Looks almost new.

chrysler/jeep had that issue a lot with their lenses.. tey ofer lens cleaning service at the dealer, it is somewhat similaer to ^^ but they use a couple chemicals with it.
