dammit if i didn't lose mine recently...ideally, i'd like a half-serrated, one-hand-opening pocket knife that has a clip and is of a decent brand...it's been awhile since i've bought any knives, so i don't know who puts out the best anymore (used to be gerber and buck were awesome, but who knows)...i know i COULD just go to walmart or dick's or wherever and get one, but i thought i'd check here first

Big Lots on Western has some nice pockets knives with nice prices. For example, I bought my pocket knife from Wally World for $12, and went there the next day to look at some stuff, and saw the exact same knife for $6. Its worth a look. Look down the tool isle.

everyone needs mroe than 1 knife. Price is not what makes a knife, ease of use is. If it wont hold and edge, wont stay locked open, wont hold up to normal use, its nto easy to use. If it is a flea market $2 made in china rip off, but holds an edge and works great, its an ok knife. I tend to buy Cold Steel or Columbia River stuff for my good knives, however i have several cheap ones that work just fine. If you want a beat it up and cant break it everyday sue knife, spring for a http://www.crkt.com/m16edcz.htmli use mine every day as a work knife, works well for things that a boxcutter is nto big enough for.I also have a small fixed blade from them, http://www.1sks.com/store/crkt-ryan-plan-b.html, i got it for $10 when guns plus in fayetville cleared out the stock once it got discontinued.

State Surplus has some decent knives cheap. They had a two nice Spyderco knives (a Delica and something else) for $10 and $12 the last time I was there.

i'll be contacting some of you later (i'm kind of busy today, but really looking to buy something before i go out of town on friday)^ i noticed the frame is titanium...why would they only make the frame out of titanium and not the blade too? serious question, not trying to be sarcastic
6/20/2006 4:22:55 PM
titanium may not hold an edge as well as the steel they use.

I have a Ruko half-serrated one-hand-opening with a clip and a 90 mm blade. But I can't sell it. It was about $30 at a gun store a few years back.

are teh knives at the auction nice? (ie not disposable crap)If so, I wouldnt mind going there...but flea market quality knives suck.
6/21/2006 9:07:35 AM
flea market quality knives CAN suck...kylekatern is right...i have a flea market knife (one of the old buck knock-offs with the wood and brass handle) that i've used in camping for over a decade...it holds its edge quite well, it has no rust spots, and i've abused it (since it only cost $4)but yeah, you can never have too many knives, and keeping a few high-quality knives is a must
6/21/2006 9:43:35 AM
I agree...I have a pawn shop knife I bought 4 years ago, its a pointy switchblade w/ no safety, and it still works awesome...It's the little plastic handled Jaguars that I was refering to, as being crappy.

^x8 as for the M16-14T, you can get them on ebay for $69 (buy it now) plus $8 S&H, and that's new
6/21/2006 11:21:27 AM
60 flat is as low as I am willing to go then, as my knife has seen little real use, and this kind of knife will not ever be $20 lol[Edited on June 21, 2006 at 11:44 AM. Reason : .]
